Adopted a dog
New for me... always had black labs minus the one chocolate lab that was nuts.
Told my girl (who wanted a dog) if she could prove to me she was responsible enough for a dog she could adopt one. Water and fed our current dog most days and night for around 3 months
she picked this one out. Calling her patty... my daughter named her
edit - my daughter changed the name to Dixie on the fly.
Comments
That is awesome. Enjoy her.
will do and hopefully it works out
Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Welcome to Dawgnation Patty.
Edit - the daughter threw a slider and changed the name to Dixie.
A few baths later and so far 12 ticks
Bless you, bro.
Awesome bro.
Thanks donm bro.. I actually felt bad when I started pulling all them ticks off. Bless the girl’s heart. She was for the daughter, but she may become mine
Thanks scoot bro. Super nice dog so far...
That would not surprise me. !
I'm sure Dixie thanks you JRT. You've got me thinking. We have a Yorkie and shitzoo (sorry not googling how to spell it). Guess they're are adopted/rescued also. We got them from folks that didnt want them anymore and looking to get rid of them, but paid a little. Guess that counts
Do a good deed and get a DGD in the bargain, win-win. Don't spare the attention, Dixie looks like she needs a lot of TLC.
Looks like a happy hound to me. Good job on the rescue, she looks like a Dixie.
Awesome bro God will bless you both....with ya on the Labs, just rescued a Black female 6 weeks ago Lexie we call her, a month after Mardi my Yellow passed.....
Right on rpm bro!
She needed some tlc after picking her. She is now just needing some love. Ain’t no gun dog for sure but is figuring us out now including the young kids haha. Seems like Dixie will be a good family dog
The Foxhound I posted about a couple of days ago was crawling with fleas and they had caused a bacterial infection that made most of her hair fall out and the odor was intense. I took her to my vet the next morning. She gave Brownie several shots and a sack full of meds to take home. Give is not exactly correct, it cost a small fortune.
We bathed her every other day with miconazole, ketoconazole and chlorhexidine anti fungal shampoo for 2 weeks, then every 5 days for another month along with oral meds, then every week for another month. It took around 4 months to get her well but she turned out to be a beautiful young dog once healed. I thought we were getting an old dog and just giving her a decent couple of years, that was 13 years ago. She's snoozing on her baby bed mattress across the room right now.
dawgnms bro, adoption thing is new for me and I will keep my opinion on that to myself so I don’t get yelled at
shoot - here we go, I can spend 1500 -2500 o n a lab that I raise and has a purpose, but like this joint where I adopted a mutt for over 300 after shots etc that I have zero history on....makes me question what’s up
either way the girl seems like a good dog, maybe her purpose is to loving the family... ain’t no gun dog for sure... wife like her, kids like her.... and after me giving her some baths and pulling ticks off her... I like her as well
Two words. Nexgard and Heartgard. She will thank you.
Right on wc bro!
Yup, already got my vet ready to meet her Tuesday
