Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

That’s the approach we take, the thread he’s referencing had personal attacks. But we will still close threads if the OP asks too.
This thread confirms the wisdom of my decision to not accept a moderator position. Yikes!!
Can we make @WCDawg a mod ?
No doubt - the worst job on the interwebs
I know moderating is a thankless, no-win job so not being critical for the sake of being critical; but personal attacks aside: what is the distinguishing factor that makes an OP's request to close a thread different (or hold more weight) than any other person who makes such a request?
One is born or not born a mod. Can’t make one.
Read my comment a few comments back.
It helps feed my huge ego not to mention the power trip
I did read the part that stated "it's always been a rule" on your post on page 2 (is that one you're referencing?) but was curious as to why the rule exists in the first place (?)

We’re just honoring the request of the user that started that thread. Simple as that. They determined it’s existence by starting the thread, so they can determine its end (if they so choose).
Maybe rule is not the right word. We Mods discuss certain things and this is one of them that we all agreed on, amongst numerous other 100% agreements that we have.
You mean you wouldn’t want to be doing this on the day of the biggest game of the year? You’re missing out on all the “fun!”
Hey Dawg fans. We play Notre Dame in 4 hours.
Let's all make up and get ready to cheer on our Dawgs
yes. this is a private forum. it is not "owned" by the public or the community.
I will cheer but I refuse to make up
