Let's put some optimism in here...
I was there that night. Unforgettable!!
Greatest call in Braves history, IMO.
They left Teheran off the roster. Not totally surprising but unfortunate form him, he gave the team a lot this year.
So Folty and Soroka are going in Game 2 and Game 3, respectively. Not kidding, a Top 3 story of the season could be Folty's miraculous turnaround if he is indeed effective in the NLDS.
His ERA ballooned to 6.37 (!) after his 11th start of the season on June 22 against the Nationals when he coughed up 8 earned runs in just 4 innings. Since then, he has pitched to a 2.65 ERA in his last 10 starts after chilling out in Gwinnett for the entirety of July.
I'm pretty surprised, unless he is dealing with a lingering issue.
I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed with this decision.
Just as predicted.
Yeah, I was going to give you kudos on that. Just wait for it next time!
The Atlanta Braves are playing a playoff game today. I''m just gonna leave this here:
And this preseason projection chart:
Yes, that's a whopping 19% chance of winning the division.
Not a single MLB.com expert even had the Braves winning a wild card spot. I also think picking anyone other than LA to win the NL West was basically indefensible. Yet 8 of their analysts did!
Man, I am pumped for this series to get going..time to return the favor to the Cards and send them home for the year.
I didn't say I predicted it, but I could have let it sit awhile.
Most had us finishing 3rd to the mighty Phillies with either DC or The Mutts finishing 2nd, some had us finishing 4th.
To be fair many if not most Braves fans thought Philly's lineup would be tough to beat. Brian Snitker deserves all the credit in the world. How great is it that he finally reached his goal to be a big league manager in his 60s and he's making the most of it.
Maybe the reasoning is Fried would be the 4th option as a starter and in case of an injury you're allowed to bring up a replacement, so it's not like Julio can't be brought up if a starter is put on the inactive list.
The 1991 season is still by far the most memorable in Braves history, even with the loss in the 7th game of The World Series. I saw a rating of all time playoff games a few years ago, 3 of the top 5 were from the 1991 playoffs, all involved The Braves with That amazing 7th game at #1. It wasn't an article by somebody who covers The Braves either, it was somebody from ESPN, SI or Baseball America.
Still probably best WS of the modern era with dbacks yanks second
I agree. There was tension from the first pitch to the last out.
Make it rain Bravos!
