Sporting News award is voted on by his fellow managers. Can't imagine a more satisfying award to receive.
I know the post season loss was painful and just one more failure in a long list, but congratulations to Snit. It's a great honor and couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
I'm still salty. Hurts even more that it's the nationals in there. I think we could have beat them in the NLCS. He is very deserving of the award though since no one thought we would be in the playoffs.
I'm just thankful Harper isn't on the Nationals. That would've made it 100 times worse.
I hear ya bro. Been a fan since '83 so I've shared in the suffering over the years.
Gonna hurt even more when the Nats beat the 'Stros. I thought there was zero chance of that a month ago but Washington is peaking right now and sometimes that's all it takes.
Feel free to OT but seeing as how it was his thread does anyone know what happened to WC? Last I saw he was suspended not banned, but the hammer has come around full swing apparently.
He was particularly rambunctious one day
He told one too many people to eff off
Ah, well that will definitely do it
He will be back wearing a disguise soon
and when he reaches 3k posts in a month he will reveal himself
Called it right after the shite the pants game.
Nats will go on to win it all cuz it's us & that's just one more way to stick it in & break it off with no lube.
*sorry for the draft quotes, thing has a mind of its own sometimes
Everything that had to do with us probably succumbing in 6 to Washington if we beat St Louis had much more to do with Freddie and other veterans not being right, and injuries (which is related to what I'm saying) and nothing to do with pitching. Freddie had said in an interview that with a slugging instead of struggling Riley "we were the best team in baseball."
And you know what? He was right to an extent. With everything together, this was a strong team. Heck, even before we had a downturn, we were still problems for Washington, but as I've said in several other channels, that likely was not going to stick with what they're doing in the postseason (trying hard to stick with SP, even out of the pen, and mainly just 2 guys in the RP corps). It's been fueled by MLB deadening the balls (the Nationals seriously should consider sending gift cards to the commissioner, because if they win it its going to be due to this and this ONLY, otherwise Will Smith of the Dodgers walks them off in game 5 and we probably win our series ourselves before it goes to that thorough embarrassment of a first inning). Heck, if they're going to stick with deader balls, we might see a return of heavy pitching and just look for contact hits instead of swing hard for extra base hits (not even just the home run).
But outside of Dansby finding his bat, pretty much nothing went right in that NLDS. If Chris Martin doesn't go out with an oblique, he is a good strikeout guy which works against looking for BS little hits, and he possibly goes 1-2-3 in that inning, and it leads to a sweep, and even if you say that oblique still happens, if Freeman is healthy its likely over in 4.
Although this is Milwaukee in 1957 (World Series vs Yankees) and not Atlanta, I came across this picture of Hank Arron that I thought was pretty cool. I had the opportunity to meet Hank in the early 80’s when I was working in the Columbus, Ohio (Clippers) press box and he was in town watching / scouting the Richmond Braves.
WC is the nelson mandela of these boards. I can't believe he would tell anyone to eff off. That just doesn't sound like him at all.

So cool. And a beautiful shot. Thanks for sharing Bobcat.
