Pro Style Offense is any offense that is used in the NFL. They differentiate from Air Raid, Flex, Spread, etc. Pro Set is a different thing if thats what you're meaning. But...
2017 OU - Ran a Pro Style Spread Offense. TE and FB had been heavily featured. Balanced offense on runs vs pass.
Bama (all years) - Coker, Henry, Ridley, Howard transitioned to Hurts, Bo and Harris, Ridley, Irv transitioned to Hurts, Bo and Harris, Ridley, Irv transitioned to Tua, Jacobs, 3 headed WR.... Coaches had been Kiffin, Daboll/Locksley, and Sark all pro style guys. (Hint Hint... Bama lost because the play action wasn't bit on Saturday).
Washington - Ran the single back formation better known as Ace formation (you may see it alot in the NFL).
Notre Dame - Toughie cause they run a pro style spread offense but its not putting up gaudy numbers and they have a mobile QB andnuse multiple TE sets. A offense very familiar in Baltimore (preLamar and current Lamar).
Again pro style is the thing in college. Outside of OSU who has a gimmicky offense (Zone Read) and Clemson's odd style offense everyone else favors Pro Style thats been in the playoffs. Oregon actually has ran pro style since Chip left because they needed to be able to fight the physical teams like Stanford I didn't include them because the year they made the playoffs it was still in Kelly's mold.
If you cant see it after this explanation you win.
All but 1 play off era champion had a top 5 scoring defense. The one outlier was Ohio State and there defense was still good. Common thread has been defense. It still wins championships.
Z Walker next to commit
well you’re wrong, none of those teams play in a spread.
OU- runs an air raid offense not a spread Lincoln roots from Baylor.
Bama has run all different types is not just “spread” Sarkisian (sp) runs a west coast offense. Played at BYU and USC influence with Norm Chow
Washington- People think Chris Petersen runs a gimmick offense because of the trick plays in the fiesta bowl but he’s pro style through and through. Uses a FB in offense runs up the gut a ton. My wife is from Boise and so is my best friend so I’ve made the same mistake calling Peterson’s offense a spread.
MSU- very similar to our offense philosophy.

How about yall move your Bama offense / NFL spread offense conversation to another thread ? An entire page of non recruiting news isnt what people click on this thread for. Thanks (from me and all the off topic clickers)
Back on topic please? Start a thread on offensive philosophies.....

Next three up in this order:

Yes they are all spread teams. All of them line up in shotgun 100% of the time with 10 or 11 personnel.
That is the definition of spread.
What they don't do is 12 personnel.
UGA is the only team in the CFP era that still runs 12 personnel under center with any regularity.
other teams that do this.
Wisconsin
Iowa
Michigan St
Washington
any others that you come up with are irrelevant because they are so bad of teams that it doesn't even matter to bring them up.
You can call Clemson/Bama/LSU/OSU offenses what ever you want, but the pros weren't running that 10 years ago.
The pro's have evolved and Kirby is still stuck in 2010.
The point of the whole discussion was that Bama's new offense is the reason they haven't won a national championship, but the teams that are beating them are running the same offense, so I don't see the validity of the argument, and while they haven't won the national championship, they have prevented UGA from 2.
I think the second running back situation might be the most poorly managed recruitment of the Kirby Smart era so far.
After telling Tank thanks but no thanks when he was ready to commit. Then putting all your eggs in the Evans basket, then according to SoFl we send our best recruiter to tell him thanks, but no thanks after the situation Evans had with his coaches, but Georgia couldn’t make any headway with other elite running back targets committed to other programs, so UGA goes back to Evans and tells him just forget about all our concerns from a few weeks ago, it’s you or bust.
it felt like Georgia was a guy on a dating app., just swiping away. They match with all these great options, but ignore them for the one they think is hottest. Then they find out the one they thought was so hot might be a little crazy, and back away. But they can’t get any of their old matches to talk to them, so they go back to the match that they backed away from because they might be crazy.
Whoa whoa...what? Where did I post we sent our best recruiter to tell him “thanks, but no thanks?” Your interpretation is not what I’ve ever posted here.
Also skill wise, watch film on Tank and Milton? Can you find the differing skill sets? UGA already has its thunderback.
For the lightning back-its been Evans or bust, and Lloyd is the only back that was asked to delay his decision (aka slow played).
Couldnt disagree more with what you’ve posted here.
I find interesting how our staff has gone across the country the last 3 cycles to pull the best players from their respective states, but when it doesn’t work out for the good guys...”I told you they should take the instate guy.”
How do you anticipate the situation that happened with Evans? The same ones that are critical now, will be the same ones laughing at the other school if it doesn’t work out with said player. Same guys will say “See that right there is why we didn’t want him.”
We’ve recruited in state prospects for 20+ years. We haven’t won anything. Now in year 3 of actually having talent elite team talent and depth, we should just go with the first players in state that want to play?
Look at the darn roster. Top to bottom our best players are OOS. Fromm, LeCounte, Azeez, and Thomas are the instate impact guys today. is it ironic that 3 are from the 17 class? What our staff is doing is working and when it comes to “recruiting”, these criticisms are laughable.
During Georgia’s first bye week of the season, you said, Dell went to watch Evans and talk to coaches. You said after that visit to not except Evans to be in the 2020 class.
Clearly neither of us were there (unless you really are James Coley like the board jokes). So how else would you read that situation?
I’m not trying to pick a fight, I love your post and information.
Is this wcdawg with a different name?
The ZE situation is just an unfortunate series of events and if we don't get him there's no one to blame for that.
Recruiting is the least of our problems, and the problems we have are minimal on the whole.
I also said in that same post, I had 3 sources and “I no longer believe Evans would be in class due to the conflicting info from those sources.”
At no point in time would Dell, or any other coach fly to tell a recruit “no thanks”. A simple call or text would suffice. Dell went to see first hand what was going on with his remaining priority and at the time, silent commit. There were discussions with coaches and others connected to the program that caused pause. I also posted that Dell advised Evans he wanted to see him get back in good standing which is why Evans was not allowed to commit on 9/5. I later posted that there was some blowback for how Evans shunned Texas and his HS coaches being loyal to that program, felt that blowback.
To reiterate, we’ll never read this story in actual print. When Evans said earlier this year Texas “wasn’t ready” (I’m paraphrasing) the turn started. Evans was deemed getting too big for his britches. He was disciplined on national TV game 1. His immaturity also showed in locker room. We still do not know exactly what happened that Friday, in a private meeting after the game. There’s enough smoke to believe a physical action took place with a assistant coach which led to the suspension. We were the first to state the 3 game suspension.
Maybe Evans thought UGA wouldn’t care, who knows? What’s clear is when he wasn’t allowed to announce while being suspended, afterwards the recruitment shifted. My guess is that’s been Evans decision as staff has not moved on.
This recruitment is not over either. Ty Davis Price is on the two deep there. Emery is third. If Evans joins, whats the plan for a team that’s throwing the ball ~65% of the time. Evans remains one the wildcards going into Dec. I still doubt he’ll choose Bama or tamu for reasons I posted earlier this year. Depth is stacked at LSU without class separation. We’ll see how it goes.
