I'm a huge music fan.....but I have never heard of any of those artists. Not a single one.

I'm obviously not as big a music fan as I thought.

@texdawg - Growing up in So Cal most of the people I knew played a musical instrument and garage bands were everywhere. I played drums and was obsessed with music growing up - still am.

Fast forward in time. I was an early Internet adopter, first getting on the Net in the early 90's when I worked for IBM. In around 1997/1998 I was introduced to WinMX, a global music sharing program. During that period my taste in music radically shifted, because I was exposed to underground music from all over the world (ex. France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Japan to name a few) and had many conversations with people in those countries about new music. I collected thousands of songs, albums and bootleg material. It was a real eye opener, because there was a full blown renaissance going on in music at the time and I was in the middle of it.

What kind of music is it?

I'm really into the Texas alt country music scene and most of the musicians and bands are far from household names.

It's hard to classify really, because it's known by various names; such as, Chill, Global, Jazztronica etc., but I call it Downtempo. The New Mastersounds and Snarky Puppy are on the Jazz side of the house. I also listen to Hard Rock, Classical, Neo-Psychedelic Rock and Fusion.

If you don't have Spotify I highly recommend it. The Playlists they put together for me are fantastic.
