- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.
Something is really bothering me about Dawgnation
This is a Georgia Bulldog football forum......a really good Forum and one I've enjoyed for the past few years.
The Georgia Bulldogs have many former great players. But they have one player that is considered by most to be the greatest college football player of all time.....
Herschel Walker.......but for some reason many times when his name is brought up......the thread gets shuts down.
Not only was Herschel Walker the greatest player in Georgia history......he has always represented the school so well.
Successful pro football career......very successful career after football.....good father......proud American......and someone that respects this country and what it stands for. While also acknowledging that things aren't perfect.
A man that has dealt with horrible racism and suffered severe bullying while growing up. If Herschel isn't a person for the younger generations to look up to....... who is?
How have we gotten to a place where someone who has done so many things well.....and is a hero to so many......but can't be discussed in a Georgia football forum? Simply because he has different views than some on here?
I've started this thread so that people can discuss how awesome Herschel was and still is.
If it's determined that this thread needs to be shut down......a thread about the greatest player in Bulldog history and a great American.....then I guess this forum wasn't for me.

The open minded tolerant crowd aka "Cancel Culture" will close this one down for sure!!
Amen. HW is a dgfd
Well Tex. Some folks think a certain way, and if you don’t agree, you’re shut down. You’re not allowed to have a different opinion. The mods apparently agree.
17yo old kids that call him a fool get support.
HW doesn’t get support.
The world is changing.
Who was the player who called him a fool?
As a Dawg fan of course he is revered and probably the GOAT to ever put on a uniform. I'm not sure he is a significant figure to anybody under the age of 45 or not a UGA fan based on his nfl career.
Rian Davis
HW is the epitome of a role model. He overcame horrible racism, poverty, and mental illness to become the greatest college football player of all-time and an even better person. If someone calls him a fool, they need to take a long look in the mirror.
HW is 12th all-time in The NFL in yards from scrimmage.
I’d be willing to bet that most of the current players on the UGA roster have a similar opinion to what Rian expressed...
If that’s the case, it is a very significant culture issue.
They’re entitled to their opinion. I’m entitled to my opinion that they’re wrong. And that’s fine.
There was a time when most citizens accepted that we are all from unique walks of life that shape our opinions In infinitely different directions. We could respectfully disagree and enjoy a meal, a sporting event, or any other social activity because we understood that, though we have different perspectives, we all have sincere motives. Somewhere along the way we’ve been brainwashed that either Obama or Trump is going to utterly destroy America and anyone who supports them is a racist or a Nazi or part of a one world order that covertly delights in the demise of all things good.
If you believe that one party is nothing but good and the other is completely evil I’ve got bad news: you are wrong. And you are a tool.
Understanding politics is not very complicated: Each party wants the power (even if the motive is altruistic (which is rare)) but breaking down Keynes’s or Friedman’s economic philosophy is not enough to motivate enough of the electorate to sway an election so politicians have to come up with hot-button reasons to pull the voting lever; a vast array of catch phrases to incite multiple factions of the base into a frenzy. These are almost always ridiculous hyperbolic rhetoric that culminate in accusing someone of being just like Hitler. And in the end they seldom solve the problem that was so dire in October that November would bring the apocalypse if you vote for the other guy.
Personally, I believe Obama was born in America and that Trump is not a racist. Obama is not a secret Muslim. GWBush is not part of some secret Illuminati branch of Masons that imploded the WTC. Those things are distractions and don’t hold up to critical, intellectually honest scrutiny...
...but Epstein didn’t kill himself.
12th All Time still for NFL All-Purpose yards in a career - while spending his prime years in the USFL.
Then maybe some of those under 45 should start listening to to 34!
@BoroDawg @RomeDawg288
USFL Stats: 3 seasons, 5562 rush yards, 54 TD's, 1484 receiving yards, 7 TD's.
NFL Stats: 14 seasons, 8225 rush yards, 61 TD's, 4859 receiving yards, 21 TD's. Not to mention an additional 18,168 yards as a kick returner.
Total Stats: 17 seasons, 20,130 yards from scrimmage, 143 TD's.
NOT TOO SHABBY!
Hershel is one of my favorite people on the planet for a number of reasons. The earth would be a much better place if we had more people like him. Long live 34!
I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but the posts about Herschel that have been closed recently have had almost nothing to do with his athletic career or his status as one of the greatest players to ever lace up a pair of cleats.
Instead, the posts have been overtly political. I love discussing the Dawgs and reading y’all’s opinions about football on this forum. I am unbelievably tired of reading thinly veiled and/or openly political posts on this forum. The constant political posts are making this forum about as pleasurable to browse as Facebook, which I left forever back in 2009 for similar reasons.
Herschel chose to speak at the RNC, and he had every right to do so. Is that really worthy of post after post on a supposed football forum?
Funny story that's likely to get backlash...my dad's a 58 year old man and he's not a big fan of Herschel the person. He might be the only long long term Georgia football fan on the planet that isn't and this is something that I just realized this year. Honestly maybe in the last few days, because I thought his jabs that I saw earlier were more on the line of good natured...they're really not.
Politics are some of it (not to take it there, but if you make a guess about him, you'd probably be correct), but the main reason...I'll just say, if he were to come on here and say his main reason (he actually does have an account to boot, but it's for the articles), he'd get absolutely showered with downvotes.
