I hold my breath every time Will - what's a clean inning - Smith comes into a game. I know he has 37 or so saves but I only recall one that has been clean (he may have more). It seems he is always walking someone or giving up multiple hits.
He has had plenty of “clean” innings. Which probably explains our manager’s faith in him. You can’t get to 37 saves without being somewhat effective. It’s just that some of his “ unclean “ innings have been really bad which is why they stand out.
Go Braves!
I still will hold my breath. Respect my decision. /s
Yeah I don't trust Smith much, especially against disciplined hitters like the Dodgers
Oh, I do! I can sure understand your concern! wasn't being controversial.
Just was responding to your statement that you could only remember one.
He had a 1-2-3 on Sunday.
But the three walk ninth he had against the Phillies in the clinching series definitely could overshadow the good innings!!
Go Braves!
the one on Sunday was the one I remember lol !!
too funny!
Smith has been great the past 3 months or so. He's the only real closer on roster. Let's face it, either The Giants or Dodgers would be big favorites over The Bravos, but power, pitching and solid defense gives us a chance. We're getting ahead of the task at hand though, we need 1 more win against The Brewskis.
I just checked at ESPN, they now have Morton listed as the starter today.
Great news! No bullpen game!
Go Braves!
Hope it does not come back to haunt them, older pitcher on short rest and he is only really good for 4-5 innings on full rest.
But for those 4-5 innings he is really good.
Hope Morton proves me wrong.
I'm guessing Charlie will be on a short leash, if he gets into trouble, the relief corp will be ready to roll.
That s what I am afraid of, basically a bullpen game and a waste of Charley.
There will be a day off to move game 5 to Milwaukee if necessary. After that there will be off time before The NLCS begins.
Obviously management wants to end the series today and reset the rotation before facing either The Dodgers or The Giants. If we lose today I'm guessing Fried will start in Milwaukee. That would definitely complicate the rotation for The NLCS if we make it that far.
