He's had a rough month for sure. But overall not too concerned, as I never expected him to be on Freddie’s level. Most hitters struggle against great pitching, that's why they're great pitchers. He definitely needs to pick it up as the postseason approaches, but I was never expecting a .300+ batting average from him when the Braves signed him. Approaching 30 HRs and 100 RBIs isn't terrible, especially considering his past month's slump. The postseason is just as much about getting hot at the right time, so hopefully he can channel his inner Soler as September finishes and heads into October.
"he can channel his inner Soler..."
Outstanding!
Go Braves! Hate on Mets!
I'm not sure what is lifetime BA is, but I was expecting he'd be .260-.270 with 30+ HR 100+ RB. He may come close to those power #s, but he's hitting in the .230's now. He was a doubles machine in the first half of the season, but even that has fallen off. I'll do some research and see how far off my expectations were from his lifetime stats.
Here is what I found.
Lifetime batting average .248. So he is about 14 pts lower so far this year. Not horrible.
Lifetime OPS.840. This year he's at .774 - a deficit of 66 points. Not that dood, I don't think because he does get on base a good bit, meaning his power stats are a bit down.
His best year ever:
BA ,271
HR 38
RBI 111
OPS .911
He currently has 142 lifetime HR's in 575 games - the 10th fastest to that mark in MBL history.
He needs to get hot and soon.
If I was making out lineup, move Harris to 3rd pushing back Riley to 4th and Olsen to 5. Make Ozuna fulltime dh unless Acuna can't go in field.
Maybe Ozuna can show enough that they can unload him to some team this winter.
Offense painful to watch.
Indeed. They seem t have gone dormant at the worst possible point in the season.
Tonight's the night, offense is gonna wake up.
I like how you think, sir!
Go Braves!
I wonder why Snit hasn't given Olson a day or two off. Hes' played so many innings this year - even Swanson has had some off time. Maybe he's just physically or mentally fatigued. Riley could have given him a game or two at first base.
Well, I was wrong again.
Nooooooooo…… Spencer Strider, top rookie pitcher who has been sensational this year, was placed on the 15-day IL with a strained left oblique muscle.
Braves are kicking adversity in the teeth as well…
6-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Kyle Wright still pitching a gem!
Go Braves!
Also noticed Snit took my advice and gave Olson a rest day. Smart guy!!
I was only a day off, I also excel at picking yesterday lottery numbers.
Morton and Strider have been doing some work!
And yes that year is 1886.
Awesome stat!
That visit to the White House must have been just what the Braves needed!
Leading 8-0 in the bottom of the 6th. Bryce Elder pitching a gem!
Ozuna, Olson and Arcia all with homers!
Olson with three RBIs! Ozuna and Arcia with two each! Looks like they are doing what they need to do and hitting their way out of their lull!
Will pick up a half game on those “lousy, stinking Mets “ assuming the score holds up!
Home stretch , baby! Every night is playoff night!
Go Braves!
Bryce Elder just pitched the first Braves complete game, nine inning shutout in 2022!!!!! And by a Braves rookie for the first time since 1990!
Incredible!
Braves just picked up that half game and are just one game back of those “lousy, stinking Mets “!
Frank the tank must be apoplectic!!
Go Braves!
Is he eligible for postseason, I can't keep up with current rules? I have been impressed with his games, even his losses.
Not sure…..@Teddy or @dawgnms , do you have an answer?
All I know is that he pitched fantastic! His best inning was probably the ninth….two strikeouts and a groundout to second! All in under a 100 pitches!
Amazing! Big ol’ Texas boy mowing them down!
Go Braves!
