Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Definitely agree with the last sentence…..
the “almost feel bad for ole Jimbo…” stuff!?
Not so much….
So what's the possibility that TAMU bites the bullet and fires Jimbo after this season? I really don't think they will even be bowl eligible this year. I'd say the possibility is 40-50%. He's been there long enough to make big changes and show improvement and he's not even matching what Sumlin was doing.
I suspect they will give him enough time to develop that great signing class be brought in. At least one more year. Again, who the heck knows these days.
I wonder how many guys from that #1 class will return. There seems to be a LOT of smoke coming out of the TAMU dumpster. Could be a full-on raging fire very soon.
I predict that as some of these coaching buyouts balloon into absolute absurd amounts, schools are going to find ways to not pay them. Historically they paid them just to look good and more enticing to the next coach. But nearly a 100million? I'd screw him over any way I could especially after railroading the program when he had everything given to him. I only partially blame Jimbo though. Like others eluded to, throwing money at 18-19yo kids is not going to go well.
I suspect that eventually these massive coaching contracts will come with specific performance expectations giving the school an out if the coach underperforms. All this guaranteed money stuff just isn't sustainable.
TAMU will flood the portal with 5* freshmen come season's end. Recruiting is key but only if you focus on retention. Already seen that Bouie and Chris Marshall want to transfer to UGA! One and done used to be a Men's Basketball term. Jimbo changed that already!
I don't know if I want to touch any TAMU transfers unless it's for the right reason. Meaning, these guys, if they want to come to UGA it needs to be to win games and championships....not a big NIL payday. If a big NIL deal is part of the discussion, then go somewhere else.
I'm really looking forward to a report on how these high school kids showed up on campus with new cars and bling. Does that mean they got their first paycheck before they started work? Not insinuating laws or other rules were being broken, just trying to understand how the NIL compensation works as it relates to CFB.
Texas A&M tried to buy their success. Now they have a coach they can’t get rid of due to a massive buyout. And kids that got paid big bucks straight out of high school now not wanting to be there anymore or about to get kicked off the team for behavior. One things for sure the Aggie road map to success is a complete failure.
Maybe this unrestricted NIL stuff needs to be modified to only apply to upperclassmen. It truly is unsustainable as it stands. The adults in the room have to eventually put a stop to the madness. It's really not good for the sport.
Right. Texas A&M can have the best recruiting class money can buy every year. If they all leave in year two does it matter. Their culture is broken and the program is built on money bags with no ties to performance. Many of them will take the money and run…to their next destination.
I think the unmitigated disaster of aTm handing out this cash to unproven high schoolers is going to handle it for them.
"If a big NIL deal is part of the discussion, then go somewhere else."
I think Coach Kirby has already seen to that in his staff's evaluation process.....
Thank goodness!!
Go Dawgs!
Taking A&M transfers sounds too risky to the locker room. Especially for those that had a chance to be Dawgs, but wanted that quick cash grab instead. That mentality isn't gone from those players. There's no lesson learned here. They can quit, freely transfer & play, all with a crazy amount of money in the bank. Give us the next crop of talent that learns from these players instead, and choose to be Dawgs.
