Turns out I don't understand the class system here
I have no idea how our "class ranking" works.
I've been a member since 2019, and I'm a junior. There are dudes who joined in 2017 who are sophomores. I have about 250 posts, and those dudes have less than 50. There are people who joined in 2021 with over 300 who are graduates. I'm saying all of this because I thought that maybe at least one of these points was relevant to class ranking, but, when all are considered, that just can't be true. That's to say, if someone's a freshman because they joined in the past year, that makes sense, but that's not the case. If someone is a sophomore because they have 50+ or 100+ posts, that makes sense (1 year per 50 or 100 posts) but that's not the case. If it's some combination of the two (you've been an active member for three years but have only made 50 posts) but that's also too inconsistent for me to make heads or tails of the logic.
Can anyone explain it to me? It's not a big deal, I just want to be able to make sense of it.

Posts, starting threads, up votes and down votes affect your class ranking. Badges earned also. Has nothing to do with how long you have been a member. The more you participate the higher your class ranking will be....
I believe you get “points” for upvotes (a point for each upvote), badges won (milestones in upvotes, comments and anniversaries) and a small number for each graduation from Freshman to Graduate.
It is the number of points, and milestones met in points which ultimately allows you to move up in class.
Your biggest swings in points are upvotes and badges won. So it is all interconnected.
Theoretically, you could have been on here for five years, never posted, thus never receiving an upvote and you would still be a Freshman.
Hope that makes sense!
Go Dawgs!
It is something I have never paid attention to. Does it have any value or merit? Any privileges? Or just an incentive to get people more involved (which is fine)?
Encourage participation. No privileges just shows you are active member, and other members like your comments and threads by up voting
Well, there is a flaw in the system if a poster like me has enough upvotes to be promoted :-)
Now, that’s funny, right there!!
You must be getting credit for your previous account.
Is there anyway to know/find out what our #s are for other accounts we had or are they automatically added into our current account?
I was kidding.
I was asking serioiusly. I've had several accounts and had to change when certain admin type changes occurred. Just curious about my all-time standings.
I have no idea.
Under "Quick Links" in the top right, click on "Activity". That shows the weekly and overall rankings of members. You get points for new posts, up votes, down votes and so forth. That amount of activity you produce gets you up the ladder.
