- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story!!!
Indeed!
Info Wars is an entertainment website that should be taken as seriously as one does the onion or Babylon bee.
Thanks for the link.
Does anybody find it odd that Dawgnation hasn't posted an article about the letter or the press conference held today? 247 and On3 have articles written already.
That was very enlightening since I haven’t followed the story like some other here have. I get it now. Will be interesting to see if the AJC retracts or doubles down, and if double down….does UGA go after them legally? It appears UGA will.
First job out of UGA was in the CNN newsroom - the "Chicken Noodle News" days (see the yr in my screen name) when everyone laughed at us. Some of it was justified - oyez, the blooper reels I wish I still had. But it was being run by a bunch of recent college grads like me - working for less than what the burger doodle up the street was paying, so it was accepted by those in charge.
I will say in my experience, however, there was incredible effort to cover and report "the story" from all sides. The producers and up (most of them) were driven to find out what wasn't there - to be first AND to be right. There were future "stars" working there at the time who when they caputred their fame, appeared to gain a bit more favor with one end of the political spectrum (Sharyl Attkisson) than the other (Christiane Amanpour). If either HAS a viewpoint now, you never knew it way back then. They were both just seriously tough journalists (NOT just news readers); bada**es.
CNN did have editorials. But they were called that by name and weren't delivered by the primary news readers. Instead they were typically written and delivered by mgt like Ed "No Relation" Turner and special guests - Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke was in the house). The news - good/bad/otherswise - was the star in those days, but the battle for better ratings and developing personalities w/a POV was going on even back then. As long as THE Ted was in charge, that change wasn't happening and wasn't going to happen. Unfortunately that shift from integrity to ratings started to happen with the sale to TW, was furthered when AOL bought the co and has continued with each subsequent purchaser.
Color me with reminiscent, but I've been very sad for years comparing what CNN was to what it - and most other "media" (define THAT word for me) has become.
As someone old enough to recall having only three network channels available using rabbit ears and tinfoil, I watched Walter Cronkite famously say, “And that’s the way it is…” each evening.
I also recall the birth and early years of CNN. Your insider assessment affirms the favorable impression I had as a viewer back then of the network’s journalistic credibility, and your sadness for its current form matches my own.
First off. Did you get to meet Paul Newman???? What an amazing guy. Cool Hand Luke. It doesn't get much better. Movie Star AND legit Race Car driver. Does it get cooler than that?

The only thing I take issue with is when it's only defined as a liberal press problem. When there is plenty of crazy to go around.
They just pander to the extremes on the left or the right. The kind of people who will watch that stuff all day. Everyone here probably knows somebody like this or at least knows the type.
A real shame too because I do believe most Americans are more towards the middle. That market is being underserved.
P.S. Really great post.
Also, time for me to eat my crow.
I was wrong. The AJC is way out of bounds here. It strains credulity to think UGA sent this kind of letter without justification. They got a pretty good law school up there.
I would say the AJC needs to put up or shut but that isn't it. They need to put up or issue a retraction.

247 and On3 don't get their paychecks from Cox, so I'm guessing you probably will not see a mention.
As the French say, "Chapeau!' for the good form exemplified in your willingness to admit an error in judgment (Hey, it's Tour de France season, I can't help referencing the French).
They are actually doubling down.
