It's a start. Still a long and I mean a long row to hoe.
Marlins in Miami for 3 then the Mets in NY for 4. Need to win 5 of those.
What a fun game to watch. Strider had really pitch and did. Timely hitting. Some great fielding by Allen at SS.
5 of 7 will very tough - on the road. Fingers crossed.
More good news. Chris Sale headed for the IL w/cracked rib. Might have happened when he dove for that soft grounder in his last start. Just seems like Braves can't catch a break.
This is where you like to say next man up.
Only there isnt anyone close to Sale behind him.
7-0 shutout. Nice game by Grant Holmes. Keeps lowering that ERA. A great find, this one.
Wish we could get more out of Verdugo and Harris at the plate. Ozzie too. If they could heat up, we might be formidable. But a win is a win.
Holmes is a great story. Dude pitched in the minors 10 years before he made it.
You dont see that much. 28 year old rookies. Most guys when they dont make it by say 25 or so move on with their lives.
Thankfully, he didn't. He's been very impressive, especially in light of all the injuries.
Just found that the NL average OPS is .717.
The Braves have 5 above that average and the bottom 4 in the order are well below average.
The top 5 guys in the lineup are well above the average. The lower half or the order are 100 or more pints below the average.
It will be tough to create much of a winning streak with the bottom half not contributing more.
Do you know how many Braves starters in 2023 had an OPS below .717?
A: Zero.
The lowest was Arcia at .741
Braves win!!!
I think the league average was a bit higher back then, but the difference in production sure shows!!
2 years. I dont think it would be that much.
GO Braves! 😎
It was around .740 IIRC. But I could be suffering from a moment of CRS.
Alcantra is a good pitcher. Our 2-3-4 hitters in the line up only had one hit between them. The rest of the lineup, 5-9, had 4 hits between them. Tough to put hits together when there aren't many hits. Forecast is gloomy for the Mets/Phillies. Really gloomy.
