Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I'll agree with some of your points.....but this darn virus is a deadly SOB. I don't care how they count the deaths. It's very serious.
Don't know how it can be looked at any other way.
I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that. Is it "shut the world down" deadly? That is debatable.
OK. Just for arguments sake.....knowing how many deaths are occurring with the "shut the world down"......how many deaths would there be if the country hadn't shut it down? Not starting an argument......just asking a question.
And how many deaths would be considered acceptable?
How many would be acceptable in your family would be a better question. Let's personalize it. Others are just numbers. How many family members are you willing to lose?
That's a lot of words.
Day 1 – I Can Do This!! Got enough food and wine to last a month!
Day 2 – Opening my 8th bottle of Wine. I fear wine supplies might not last
Day 3 – Strawberries: Some have 210 seeds, some have 235 seeds. Who Knew??
Day 4 – 8:00pm. Removed my Day Pajamas and put on my Night Pajamas.
Day 5 – Today, I tried to make Hand Sanitizer. It came out as Jello Shots!!
Day 6 – I get to take the Garbage out. I’m So excited, I can’t decide what to wear.
Day 7 – Laughing way too much at my own jokes!!
Day 8 – Went to a new restaurant called “The Kitchen”. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have No clue how this place is still in business.
Day 9 – I put liquor bottles in every room. Tonight, I’m getting all dressed up and going Bar hopping.
Day 10 – Struck up a conversation with a Spider today. Seems nice. He’s a Web Designer.
Day 11 – Isolation is hard. I swear my fridge just said, “What the hell do you want now?”
Day 12 – I realized why dogs get so excited about something moving outside, going for walks or car rides. I think I just barked at a squirrel.
Day 13 – If you keep a glass of wine in each hand, you can’t accidently touch your face.
Day 14 – Watched the birds fight over a worm. The Cardinals led the Blue Jays 3–1.
Day 15 – Anybody else feel like they’ve cooked dinner about 395 times this month? Feels like the 15th consecutive day of post Thanksgiving cleanup.
@Savage THANK YOU!!!!
That was hilarious and much needed.
I dont' have an answer for that. It's an impossible question. All I know is that the world has NEVER done this before. You can't say "how many deaths are acceptable" that is a BS question. There are diseases out there that kill 4,000+ every single day and nobody cares. But this is worthy of world wide economic shut down for some reason. Yes, 60,000 is a big number...but it's something we have to deal with. The cure can't be worse that the disease. If these lock-down orders aren't lifted soon, the result will be WAY worse than whatever this disease would have done. Disease is part of life on Earth. Swine flu is killed twice as many people this year as it did in 2009. TB, AIDS, Malaria...the planet is riddled with terrible diseases. It's not going away...neither is Corona. At some point we are going to have to take our chances and get the freaking world back to normal. We can't hide in our houses, afraid of the daylight.
No one is forcing you especially to hide. You have a DOD CAC. That is your passport to everywhere inside your 100 mile travel area. Go on out and enjoy it.
I was the one who provided the CDC cause of death stats yesterday - @texdawg is the 2nd person to raise them so to clarify, I wasn't trying to compare any of those causes to this pandemic: clearly apples & oranges. Social distancing won't impact cancer death rates (obviously).
Intent was to merely provide an order of magnitude in the projected loss of life relative to other causes of death in this country that are generally unreported on a daily basis. 60,000 lives is a massive # and may still end up being on the lower end of projections when all is said and done, but I do think people largely go about their lives without realizing how many people pass away every day in our communities & country unless it's someone in their immediate circle (family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc.).
Hopefully the other dozen or so posts on this thread I've posted are sufficient evidence that I don't think this is a harmless variant of the seasonal flu.
In any case - pleased to see the total deaths IHME projected for today wound being slightly overstated/flat vs actuals.
Whatever he considers minor. This morning his figure was 14K+ US, 86K+ worldwide
Lol! That was a good one my wife shared with me from Facebook the other day. Folks are really creative.
One of the best posts I've ever read
Ok
