Trae is out for tonight's game with a deep bone bruise of a foot. Those things are notoriously slow to heal so I'm bracing myself for TY not being available again in this series.
Lucky break for the Bucks.
Up 25 pts after 3 quarters, this has been the best defense I've seen from a Hawks team in a long time. If they can avoid crapping the bed for a quarter this will be a remarkable win.
With the star out sometimes teams play better not waiting for the star to do his thing. What a balanced spectacular effort with Collins having a bad night.
Reddish played excellent defense and Lou Williams was a lot more effecient on offense than Trae typically is, 7 of 9 on fgs without turning the ball over or committing fouls.
This team is full of surprises. If they can win this series I like their chances against either of the western conference teams still in it.
Can you believe you (or anyone else) just wrote this about the Hawks.
I took @donmedeiros advice and recorded the game. Can’t wait to watch it but sounds like Lou stepped up and Bogdanovich started hitting his shots.
Total team effort. Was a lot of fun to watch.
It's been a surreal postseason so far. Hats off to Hawks's management for assembling this roster. I was convinced waiting till next year to make free agent moves was the way to go, I was clearly wrong.
Bogdanovic still missed too many shots, but he was a bulldog on defense, I think he had 4 steals and none of them were cheap. Williams was superb, very, very efficient. Reddish also surprised me, he was probably the best defensive player in the game tonight.
You may still be prove correct. The Hawks face some decisions - keep as much of this team intact as possible or go the FA route...will be interesting to see how they deal with this success.
Keep the team intact. Lemon Peppa Lou and Collins are the only expiring contracts, I believe.
The roster may well go through major changes, but it has already been far more successful than I imagined it would be with this group. It's not that I didn't like the roster, I just didn't think it would get this far. Management was wise in signing role players.
Something to consider though. This is a very, very atypical postseason. Of the 3 deep preseason all star team of 15 only 2 remain in the playoff (Giannis and Paul George). For various reasons the almost unbroken 40 year trend of superstar dominated playoffs isn't playing out this year. Even still, either George or Giannis might win the title, but it's possible Giannis is either out for the remainder of The Bucks's run or will be limited by the hyperextended knee.
I think the absence of superstars plays into the Hawk's favor. they've learned to play w/o one. The other teams may have to learn that on the fly. I also did not expect/dream they'd get this far. Fun to speculate what a team of no-namers might to with more time together.
Is it just me, or do the hawks match up better against the suns? I think we can out-shoot them personally. Would be a high scoring Finals for sure.
