He can’t stay. Not with the issues going on in their other sports at the moment and the horrific nature of beating a woman. This isn’t the NFL, it is a public university. CUM knew, looked the other way, and then lied about it in a very public way. On a different note, I know we all think it could help our recruiting, but it could work against us if they bring in a big name like Peterson, Stoops or Riley. Maybe we get lucky and they hire Kiffin or McElwain.

He Gone. After the Tressel debacle Ohio State can ill afford another witch hunt. There is no way he didn't know. In this PC climate we live in he doesn't have a shot to stay. They are just working on his buy out and how they frame it to the media this weekend.

''Me too'' is the biggest reason this is likely going to end with Urban Liar out the door.

    I applaud them.

None of them could do any better than UM. Nothing to worry about.

I’ll bet he’s (Urban Meyer) given a slap on the wrist, with an insignificant partial season
(Maybe just 4 games?) suspension, & the Ohio State Luckeyes keep their coach. IMHO? They are looking for ANY REASON TO NOT fire him.

It sure has gotten mighty quiet about it all of a sudden. And where is Herbstreit? Again, any other team in America and he would’ve had 2 hours a day, every day, on ESPN to drag them through the mud until they got the death penalty.

I think if Meyer broke ties with this guy when he left fla he would be safe. The fact that he intentionally hired him at OSU, knowing the guy’s background, is the smoking gun that gets him fired. It’s hard to justify rehiring a guy you know has a history of domestic violence.

It is very likely the text messages between CUM and the wife-beater have been collected and examined. Those will show a lot. Also likely the same messages (along with internal OSU emails) between all parties are being reviewed. Interviews are on-going, then a few meetings about PR, but-outs, and having it all run by their board of regents. Then negotiations and the announcements. Finally, ESPN will pay to get interviews with Herbstriet.

I agree with your sentiment, but I believe they will keep him.

In addition of DJ Durkin having been a longtime assistant under CUM, current O$U OC Kevin Wilson was fired from Indiana two years ago for, yes you guessed it, the abuse of players.

Two years ago for the O$U Spring Game, CUM had two Honary Head Coaches, Phil Knight and Lou Holtz.

In 1990, I crushed my elbow skiing in Aspen Colorado and Dr. Ron Hunter who was the orthopedic surgeon who reconstructed my elbow. At the time he was the team surgeon for the US Olympic ski team. A couple years later my sister calls me a little after 11:30pm to tell me he is being interviewed by Ted Koppel. The book “Under The Tarnished Dome” had come out and had former player after former player being quoted about abuse, most verbal during Holtz’s tenure at Arkansas, Minnesota and Norte Dame. Dr Hunter who the the team physician for Minnesota along with former physicians at Arkansas documented a number of players at Arkansas who were forced to play with injuries well past the red line. Minor knee surgeries took place on about six players who had significant injuries and wound up having complete knee replacements within a few years after college. If a doctor held a player out a few days such as we are with Godwin now, Holtz would try and shame the player. It might be in front of the team or if they passed in a hallway, Holtz would look the other way. Lots of accounts of him grabbing face asks at practice and spitting in their face, additional spit from the amount that normally dribbles out of his mouth.

One of two things will happen. The right thing or the thing that helps Ohio keep winning. If they choose the latter they forfeit the moral high ground forever and can go ahead and take down that “respect women” sign

I think that if they were going to fire UM it would have happened. I believe this "investigation" is only an effort to shift the blame to someone else and keep UM on board.

Well from what I’ve read they are still conducting the investigation until Sunday. So I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt until then

I'm thinking he'll keep his job if for no other reason then they don't want to pay the millions for firing him.....That said, I believe he finished as an elite coach...He'll recruit some good players but he will never crack the top 5 again

Thought some of this is humorous. (BTW, tOSU was #2 when it was upset as was UGA. Hmmm? And on consecutive weekends. Hmmm?) Of you only view one, look at the first one.

FYI Tyler Trent is a 20-year-old Purdue student battling cancer, who attended the game.
