Penalty Flag! Unsportsmanlike Conduct! UGA Fan Base

Penalty Flag! Unsportsmanlike conduct, UGA fan base!

Let’s face it. Losing sucks! You know what sucks worse than our favorite team losing a game? Our favorite team losing the loyalty and trust of its fan base. A fan base known for its loyalty, its die-hard spirit, and its intensity. So, following an **** loss to LSU recently, (notice that read A loss, as in 1, as in the ONLY one so far this season!!), and the divisive reaction of the fans, it's time to throw a penalty flag on the fan base. Although everyone is entitled to, and takes full advantage of, a right to their opinions, let’s keep a few things in perspective here. UGA is a really, really, good football team. One bad afternoon won’t negate that. Both of our quarterbacks, in fact, most of our team, is comprised of kids. Teen-agers. Young men. Someone’s son. How bout we show a little respect, at least from a parenting stand-point, to these kids? I’m raising 3 boys currently, all young age. I push them to be great at everything, because I want them to succeed in life, for their sake, not mine. Can we, as a fan base, remember that there are more important things, like respect, class, and loyalty in play here? What if the fan base performed at the same standard we expect our team to play at? We do when it's time to hit the road and follow the DAWGS to road games. We do when it's time to fill Sanford Stadium during home games. Why can’t we then, when our team really needs us to be there for them? The Dawgs have a lot going for them. We have a great, rising star as a coach. We have an uber-talented team. We have two amazing quarterbacks. Our future is bright as a team, a fan base, and a program. So, team, let’s cry our last, “we got beat for the first time this year”, tears, lets sniffle our last sniffle of panic and uncertainty, and let’s call the dawgs again, rally around a team we all love, and show up and show out for the rest of the UGA season, no matter the outcome.

right on BigDawg! love them win they win, love on them more when they lose. I love this team and I'm sick of the wishy washy fans that love them so much after a win but are quick to turn on them the very first time they lose. particularly the ones who loved Jake Fromm after the Vandy game and our great year last year but after the LSU game are ready to run him over with the team bus and throw Fields in. funny thing is, if Fields gets in against UF and throws 2 picks that lead to us losing.....these fans will kill him with their comments too. anyways, just my two cents. We gotta do better. Fromm and the rest of our Dawgs are going to take care of business in Jacksonville and then everyone will go back to being super happy again, fickle fanbase at times LOL

Kirby has sewn the seeds of discontent with his split the baby, toe in the water handling of the QBs and offensive staff.

I'm not sure it's going to get better before it gets worse.
His comments after the LSU game about the staff really thinking hard about using Fields more is just gas on the fire.
Honestly, I'm close to hoping Fields transfers out after the season.

    That should be obvious.

Whoa. That’s the second zinger I’ve read from you on Fields transfer. I’m new here but are you seriously wanting to lose that talent? I want both to stay personally. I think Kirby is just using coach speak, preaching competition. It’s clear Fromm is our QB, I don’t think it would be smart for Kirby to come out and say “Justin will not start this year” as it goes against his principles. Clearly, he’s saying that exactly with action Justin won’t be our starting QB this year. I think when we’re fortunate enough to land 2 talented QBs, we count our blessings vs. hoping one leaves because the fan base is being fanatical. What about the recruits that are tied to Fields? Have you thought about that impact?

I think I'm looking at the forest, we can win without Fields, but the current situation is very corrosive.

I'm done with this back and forth crap too. At this point it looks like a massive distraction.

I completely disagree. The discontent is high expectations, when realistically this was a young team. Young teams make mistakes and have bad days. Last year we had a lot of NFL ready players that came back for another year. This year not so much.

Is it corrosive to the team or the fan base?

Don't say that WC. I said the same thing about F Freeman when they Braves were throwing out the baby. I'm glad he didn't go and I don't think Fields will either. We all have to take deep breath and remember that mistakes can be made. Nothing that happened on Saturday will determine anyone's future.

None of that accounts for the regressions at QB and WR.
I think this situation has been misplayed and I don't see a course correction in Kirby's plans.

I'm not sure what you're referring to with Freeman, but I'd be very pleased if Fromm was secure as our starter and getting most of the preparations right now. This has always been a dicey situation, I don't imagine Fromm will accept losing his starting position, he'd be a fool to let himself be put in a situation where his NFL potential was compromised.

What I meant by Freeman was that, for his own good, ATL should have traded him and gotten some prospects or a good starter. I also meant that my better judgment was clouded by emotion. I'm not saying that's what happened with you talking about transfer, but my reaction about Freddy made me flashback to that time when ATL was dealing people like Kimbrell.

As for Fromm being secure, I think all the noise coming from the fanbase is just that: noise. It won't change Kirby's thinking at all.

An honest question for you @WCDawg . Do you think Fields transferring is in both his and the program's best interest? I personally think we are a better program with him in it, and that he can benefit greatly from leading our offense in the future.

WC/RX, if you keep that anti-Dawg talk up, I suspect >99% of Georgia fans would like to see you transfer out of the fan base. Get control of yourself, men. You are talking like drunk Tennessee fans hating on your own team.

I do think it would be in both parties' interest.
All 3 parties really,I have no doubt it would be better for Fromm.

The only problem I have with Freddie is he has yet to max out his power. With his natural build and bat control he should be knocking 40 HRs without sacrificing any of his OBP.

Kind of a double-edged sword, Freddie (I've been spelling that w/ a "y"?) - that swing makes him a total threat w/ two strikes, but I think that it sometimes quells his potential power. I don't have much of a problem w/ him. We need a specialist.

I've given my reasons many times.
I think this dynamic is bad for the program in general and far from ideal for either QB.
