Just my opinion- but if Pablo is the one advising towards a transfer- they are fully expecting him to play next year (winning a hardship waiver). I hope all this “retaining an attorney/racial BS” is all fake news. An entire school should not be skewered in the media by the actions of one dumas baseball player. Go Dawgs
One final thing on this topic that I’m sure has been discussed but I want to point out.
JF1 is a freshman. He’s had coaches, players, trainers, friends, and fans (ourselves included) telling him how awesome he is. And he is awesome.
As an 18 year old, how do you process that? How do you make complicated decisions about your future? Being good at football doesn’t make you a great decision maker - a confident captain of your own life. You look to others for guidance. Your parents, your coaches, your friends - all of whom in this case truly believe you’re worthy of that starting role, but may not have all the information.
My gut opinion is that he is conflicted. He’s being pulled to transfer but he personally loves this team and his teammates. That’s why Kirby is letting him stay and practice. He’s not a cancer in the locker room. He’s a kid who’s parents are trying to get him more playing time.
Can’t argue with you there. At 18, I thought acid washed jeans shorts looked cool and porter paints hats were stylish. Someone should’ve throat punched me.
Even if he stays, I see very little chance he redshirts. The coaches will want him game ready and running the whole package in case of injury or early entry in 2020. I think he started 2 years in HS. No chance his family is thinking about letting him go on a 5 year plan.
I agree--no 5 year plan. But a redshirt decision can be made at the end of the season if he didn't play. I don't think playing in garbage time helps any more than practice to get a guy ready to take over the team in case of injury.
My good sir, I will take your pizza bet on Fields if the offer is still on the table. I believe Fields will transfer.
Conviction is a powerful thing. Also he's probably wrong.
I disagree , i think if he stays , he redshirts
Ok! On , he stays!
We shall see
His best option is UGA, no matter where he goes UGA sets him up for success better than the other. If he goes to OSU you got martell and Rawlings I think was his name. OU has Austin Kendall who is a rsSoph, he’s not going to just let him have the job. There’s also Spencer Rattler coming in. Now if he decides to go to FSU his career is over. He’ll get plenty of PT but he’s going to get blasted the whole time and really beat up his body. Maybe PSU but not sure that’s a better situation than any of the others. So I say he stays until someone from his family(or himself)says otherwise.

Love ya bro...how many divorces? Has to be more than one right?
Just kidding with ya....I have a laugh every time I see your posts. They always come in 3s or 4s in the same thread
Neither of those imo. I believe Fields is looking for a transfer because he doesn't think he is making strides as a QB. He doesn't have confidence in this staff to help him get better and more prepared for the NFL.
And if you watch his film from week 1 til now, then you will see a QB making the same mistakes over and over. Heck even on many of his completions, the ball came out a second or two late. So he may have a case....either they can't help him develop or he has work ethic problem. A kid that athletically talented should have shown a tremendous amount of growth in that time frame.
And if I am right, and I am pretty sure I am, then he is leaving within a few days after the bowl game.
Still love ya Hunker....but we will have to agree to disagree until one of us is proven right. Careful though as I am almost never wrong
I expect him to leave, but when he does the decision doesn’t prove your coaching theory right. Has Jake Fromm improved?
What is the difference between practice and a game? Intensity.
When Kirby said Fields looks good in practice he also understands that might not translate to game situations if the kid has problems handling pressure. Fromm has been handling intense pressure situations since he was twelve in the little league World Series. That’s one of those intangibles people talk about that hopefully Fields will develop if he stays. That can’t be coached. It’s gained with exposure and not everyone will blossom.
Well said, but Fields isn't getting much love from a few of our fans here that don't like his play. First, playing anywhere as a TF is tough; playing against the top Ds in the nation is much harder. Fromm really struggled against the good Ds late in the year in 2017, and he had a million more reps than Fields. Go back and look at Auburn 1 if you want to see a deer in the headlights! Fields' quickness to take off also had some strong positives: he is a great runner and was ripping Ds apart when he took off, and he was very cautious in protecting the ball, the one thing his coaches told him would get him benched (if he didn't take care of it.) He didn't throw any pics and he didn't force throws, something even JF11 did as a TF. I would defer to Kirby, and I agree with him--UGA has two really good QBs. I would say, potentially and the way I'm leaning--two great QBs. I think both will be in the Heisman talk at the appropriate time.
I suspect OSU was pretty much a done deal by the time we heard the rumor, but (with my knowledge of the situation) I have to say that if he was my son, I'd tell him to stay and use a RS next year if he could. Take the next year to get better, stronger, wiser. Keep competing, start if needed, but plan to get your degree and masters. The extra year will only make him better for the NFL later. Playing behind Fromm is great experience. Even if Fromm stayed, which I don't expect, he still has two years to run the show. If he does great and wants to turn pro after his first year starting, it's always an option. If something weird happens, like one of the new guys turns out to be great, he can grad transfer anywhere he wants to go. All of your options are open if you have a little bit of patience.
What TMazz said about Fields not developing has been something in the back of my mind Ikve never really explored nor heard anyone else mention. Fields did not have a good year 1 and maybe he feels like he needs a different environment to improve.
Jake Fromm came in as polished as you could expect a true freshman. Nobody starts their first game as a true freshman, second college game he ever played in, on the road at Notre Dame and doesn’t get intimidated. Jake did.
More than this title IX racial discrimination stuff that may be annoying as hell if Justin leaves, UGA’s reputation for developing quarterbacks may be our real problem. 2 out of 3 of our headline quarterbacks. And the only one that makes it was polished as hell for a freshman.
If Justin stays, I’d really like to see him start against Murray State or Arkansas State. If our goal is to win the national championship, you gotta spend the regular season developing your depth.
I admire @HunkerDown1MoreTime consistent confidence. I'll give him credit, back when everyone was pretty sure that Holyfield was definitely going to NFL draft. Hunker consistently said nope he's staying. Now its looking more and more like Holyfields stays. So, maybe he's right and Fields stays. That's unlikely to me but we'll see.
