Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:

- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

As a veteran also, I support their right to knell/protest, however that doesn't mean that I don't find what they do misguided and absolutely counterproductive to what they actually want changed. Even with the blemishes of the past this is still the greatest country in the world and I'm so thankful that I was blessed to be born here. Had no choice in the matter. We won the lottery.
Is there anything in your world that’s not racist?
Thankfully someone was brave enough to say what @Dawgsince76 did 🙄
Bankwalker - we'll have to disagree. What our country stands for is accommodating many forms of descent, from religious differences to protesting unjust laws and rules. The flag isn't a Bible, if some want to use it as a symbolic representation of an injustice, I won't get bent out of shape.
A sad irony is some people want to punish those who protest in a manner THEY disagree with, which would be a very unAmerican thing to do. When people harass or attack demonstrators they end up looking like Hitler's Brown Shirts.
Dawgnms. I'm not sure how to interpret your post about The Confederate Flag. I don't think displaying it teaches anything of value.
This country is great be ause we can criticize it.
But exercise that right and they'll tell you to "get out".
We only have our great cobstitution because the founders decided to reform the articles of confederation rather than just leave the country.
Imagine how great a country we would be if everybody who wanted to fix a problem with it just left instead of trying to fix it.
Don't erase it, but don't fly it neither. It deserves to be in books and museums, not over statehouses
the op is extremely anti-American
Eric
I think this guy has been a regular poster on DawgNation. His MO is always the same: post some negativity bomb, usually lacking in punctuation but not profanity, then drops off without a peep. Look at his DVs and abuse stats. Dude is a cancerous presence on a message board.
Standing up for the anthem is a political statement just like kneeling is....Ole Miss players are brave...
Blah blah blah. Yada yada yada
He is right you people don’t do your research
@Dawgsince76 I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER forgive (or forget either) the NFL. Kneeling for our National Anthem is NOT helping ANYTHING that's wrong in our society. This is MY opinion that it IS SEVERELY disrespectful to our Nation's flag, and the memory of all of the men and women who have sacrificed all of their tomorrow's by giving up their very lives for it. If these folks who are the anthem kneelers want to actually DO SOMETHING??? Then I am all for that. Get up off of your freaking knees, and go across that town of yours, AND GET IN THE FACES OF THOSE RACISTS, and tell them that they are DEAD WRONG!!!! However, by kneeling for the National Anthem???? What in the heck does that do???? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! ZERO!!! I am a former 11 year active duty Marine Corps Veteran, and this kind of abhorrent behavior is something that I will never, ever, ever condone!!! I do not care what anyone here in this forum calls me either, for sticking to my deeply held principles, and hard corps beliefs in this great nation, in spite of it's many flaws. I love this country. Stand UP for something. Sir Winston Churchill said it the best, "Do you have enemies?, well then good!! That means you stood for something at least once in your life." That ought to be the guiding principle in this case. America IS STILL the greatest nation on the face of this earth, and kneeling for the National Anthem is merely another form of division and total disrespect, that does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to get anything REAL accomplished!!! It is a USELESS waste of time, and it is VERY DISRESPECTFUL. Yes, they have the right to do as they dang well please, but my point is the act of kneeling for the National Anthem accomplishes zero, with exception of showing utter, total, and complete disrespect. They want to actually "DO" something???? THEN FREAKING DO SOMETHING!!!!!!
Well said
We don’t disagree on the general basis of what you are saying. I just think that using the flag and anthem as a form of protest is spitting on the very thing that flies as proof of your right to protest. Biting the hand that feeds you. It will also invoke very unsympathetic feelings. Brave? Perhaps. Dumb. 100%
20 yr vet myself and I don't have any respect for people who disrespect our flag. However, Chris and others who served, remember our oath. We swore to defend the Constitution and it gives these losers the right to do so.
They are not losers...
As a combat veteran, I respectfully disagree with your disagreement
Yeah, let's not let him have his opinion.
You cannot change history only learn from it. It was a battle flag and should remain in our history along with all the good history. Not saying it should be displayed in public only in museums or privately
