Train keeps a' rollin'!
Braves top Colorado 7-1.
SP Max Fried was sharp again, allowing 0 ER over 6 innings.
Jackson, Sobotka, and Biddle pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
Dansby led the way on offense with a 3-run HR, and the heart of the order (Acuna, Freeman, Markakis) combined for 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBI.
Charlie Culberson added an RBI double off the bench.
Braves have now won 7 of their past 8 games.
Another impressive outing by Fried, looks like he’ll be a reliable part of the rotation if he can stay healthy this year. Should be interesting this year, with us, the Phils, the Mets, and the Nats all having a shot at winning the N.L. East. Folty, Gausman, and Fried should be three solid starters, if we can find two more out of the group that includes Newcomb, Wright, Tehran, Soroka, Wright, and Touki, we’ll be in good shape. Lots of options. Really like our defense and how the team has been hitting.
I hope the Soroka kid can prove he can stay healthy...I think he's aces. Newcombe, if he can establish control or command (please someone tell me the difference) could be the best of the lot.
thanks. That makes sense, kind of. In my mind that means a pitcher with command has greater control than a pitcher with control or a pitcher with just control has less command than a pitcher with command. Pretty clear though that I'd rather have a pitcher with command..
Dansby and Acuna tied for the most home runs on the team at 4 a piece.
and, only a half game back! Keep it rollin' Bravos!
Fried did some masterful pitching. Francour was talking about how he had control of his 3rd and 4th pitches the 3rd time through the order. If memory serves correctly, he had like a 10 pitch or less 6th inning. If he continues, that would be huge for the rotation.
Fried could really be a difference make. This doesn't look like a fluke either, he has excellent stuff.
Dropped two in a row to the Mets, 6-3 & 6-2.
Starting pitching and leadoff spot not giving us enough
If Snit's not gonna put Acuna at the top of the order I'd like to see Dansby get a shot.
Hopefully Nuke can right the ship for us tomorrow.
AnotherDawg. It seems unlikely Swanson would have been taken so high in the draft if it was known he had a serious wrist injury. If he knew and hid it, he should pay back a big chunk of his salary from the past 4 years.
I have it on good information. No idea what was or wasn't disclosed, among whom.
EDIT: I suspect it wasn't serious. At first. It was minor. Then nagging. Then bad. Then worse. Then surgery. Now better.
Well that's what I meant by having the Greek become more aggressive. Would u argue that Nolan Aranodo is the best 3rd baseman n baseball? Hits over .300 yearly 35 hrs almost like clockwork, and can pick it at 3rd as well as anybody I've seen since Chipper. If u traded Donaldson or Camargo and one of our top pitching prospects and maybe one more; I could see that happening. N we lost basically a utility guy for a 6 time gold glove all star.
Same with closer n catcher. We have the talent to make these trades happen. He11, why not trade Teheran and a minor league catcher n maybe a promising kid for the best young catcher we can get? Yea there is a process to all this. But we won the division last year with a young team.
I mean Albies signs for 7 and $35 mil? He's worth at least another 15 over that span! All I'm saying is instead of being content winning the division, why not spend the $ to lock up ur hawses and dnt be afraid to trade for a guy that's making 20 a yr. We can clear cap room later. But 3 moves could help us win it all!
I absolutely feel they have a good enough 1 to get deep in the playoffs. But I still think we need another big FA signing, $f $$:: closer , beneficial trade etc:
