Small sample size and against admittedly (and with proper respect)lesser competition, if UGA does not get Evans for some reason, and has to go too far down the line, I was really pleased with what I saw from K-Mac and Zeus. If there is a better player available than the second running back not Evans, what should the Dawgs do, @SoFL_Dawg and @JeffSentell?
Complex answer but depends on who wants in and BPA. Ideally we need two RBs as 5 is the number. In heart of season, it’s a rotation of 3 but 5 typically travel because of ST. Kmac is more than just a depth player but Cook is being used as a non traditional back so I believe the second RB will continue to be prioritized. At a minimum, we’ll grab another 4 star player. Until I hear otherwise, I still believe Evans is the second back. I question if there’s some blow back with all the UGA chatter out in TX. This stuff is highly political at times. Maybe just a coincidence, maybe not. We’ll never know.
However, what does staff do if Burch, Ricks, Smith all want in assuming we miss on Evans. Is the second RB better than any of those guys, more important than any of those guys? Arian Smith could be a top 10 WR in country in two years. Burch and Ricks are top 32 players. Grown man decisions coming.
It is great to have these “rich man problems”
Best player for this class, do not reach out of the top 12 RBs. If you told most programs they’d only have 4 RBs next year but they would be White,Cook,Macintosh, Milton you would have a line to sign up.
Its more about the following year with RB 2, as potentially White and Cook are gone come 2021
@CZCashvilleDawg I see your point, even with 2 2021 freshman that would put us at 4 two years in a row. Oh well let’s just get Evans. Especially if he sees how our running backs are being used. Oh yeah and that 2 of them will be off to the league this year
Accidentally bumped this yesterday, but since it’s open what are your thoughts on the 2020 WR/TE spots open now. Arian Smith or Arik Gilbert or three TE
I dont think either favors UGA. I think UGA gets its two TEs but Arik has "better" suitors in Bama & Clem (winning tradition) and TENN (immediate play time). And with Smith I think he's got UGA second behind Clemson and what theyve put in the league and how they'd use him.
Thanks
Interesting about the “ what they put in the league” perception. I think that is changing quick, if not already. Another thread though.
I agree. I like Mecole with Hill out. AJ is a top 3 when healthy. But they do have Hopkins, M Williams (potential), Watkins, and Bryant. I think UGA can take it if Conley continues, Mecole set himself up and players on roster evolve. But agreed on another thread. I could go all day. Lol
I don't see AG in this class, DW & TJ
