- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans

- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.
Need GOOD Reasons to Close Threads
Closing a thread – OP – should be a rare event. Mods and their overseers need to formulate rules for doing so. The request of the author or because there is a dust-up in discussions, without a truly compelling reason to close it, should not be allowed reasons.
Acceptable reasons include: 1. A discrete thread that is time related, such as a game day thread. 2. Personal comments regarding a recruit, player or a family member thereof. 3. Some sort of clearly embarrassing or untruthful comments that should no longer get attention. There are likely others.
This relates to this thread being closed:
It started off fine. Then things were said. Some tried to get it back on track, but then it was closed. Usually, if not always, threads that have a dust-up eventually get righted. I’ve read pages of nonsense in a thread before they returned to consistently commenting on the OP. It is not pleasant, but it is part of being in a community of mostly sane and a few silly folks. In the above case, there was not even one page of nonsense.
Closing threads deprive those who are interested in a topic the chance to make a comment. Plus too quick closures may result in redundant threads as some try to pursue a topic. And, it may actually incent exchanges knowing that they will be limited by deus ex machina, rather than the disgust of their peers.
Happy Game Day! Go Dawgs!!
Comments
That one was getting toxic and was requested to be closed. You’re more than welcome to start a new thread on a similar topic
The author requested it be closed, which is no reason at all. Once an OP is made, there should be no ownership residual. Especially if there are comments made.
Need some reasonable rules.
Cool. Read my other reason
We’ve had some specific mods close threads at the mention of an elected official citing “politics”. Even if there wasn’t any drama involved at all.
Its very telling when that happens who the problem was/is.
disagree
if a thread starter requests their thead closed that should 100% be allowed
The OP was given an unsolicited load of grief in that thread. The mods could have taken action against the offending party, but let’s get real here. That wasn’t going to happen because they are worried he might take his ball and go home...again.
Did I provide grief by saying he’s an athlete and how that impacts his rating? You’re going to make me take my ball and go home, again.
OP requests thier thread be closed that request will be honored. Other threads are at our discretion and @JeffSentell backs us 100%. Got a problem with that oh well ,sorry hope ya all don't lose any sleep over it.
Appreciate the dissertation on what is acceptable and duly noted and filed
And for the record, who gives a **** what I think or any of you think? It’s a message board, rarely personal. Some of y’all only post to take shots which is also noticed but I’ll play.
So let me get this straight...there’s ONE person here who has a run in with a different poster weekly. It’s never his fault, everyone else is an id.iot. His opinion matters most and when it doesn’t, we should feel sorry for him because he has shingles; no wait he has gout; no wait he has a groin injury; today was just a bad day; no wait everyone just victimizes him. All of these “reasons” justify why he is the way he is, Amirite? An apology will be coming in a few weeks and he’ll be turning a new page, only to flip out over the ideal foot size of an elite CB in a few weeks.
I get you old dudes stick together but c’mon man. He’s not a victim, neither am I. If I have to ignore PMs and dudes following me around waiting for my info to miss, he can ignore a da.mn gif. He wanted it closed simply because he was wrong. Washington is rated as an athlete not at as a TE. If is wasn’t definitive, he’s posting until the cows come home.
Best thing to do is put the person on ignore. Obviously buttons get pushed, ignore is a remedy, but some just live for the drama so carry on until it gets out of hand and then.......well.......ya already know
Best thing I have done lately for my enjoyment of this place is put a certain always right, old, grumpy poster on ignore. My irritation level reading certain threads has gone down tremendously!!
Gee it does actually work. Who wooda thunk it.....
@Kasey man, you missed a golden opportunity to close this thread without additional comment beyond the OP. That would have been drop the mic funny. @FirePlugDawg has a good sense of humor. I imagine he would have thought so too.
Hope everybody has a great day. Glad it's finally here. Go Dawgs.
Why may I ask would I or any other Mod. take action for someone disagreeing with another or stating something that is a sensible reply?
What is this thread about? I am lost.
