Hey guys, I don’t post often at all, and not trying to start an argument on here, but please stop making fun of the young man’s grammar. He knows how to write correctly, it’s slang. It’s a bad look for fans of a program to be trashing players like this. And players see this kind of thing. Makes me feel the same way as “fans” booing players at games. It doesn’t help, and neither does disparaging this young man’s way of writing, wether or not you agree with his way of explaining the situation. He’s clearly very frustrated and tired of being made to look like a bad kid, so let’s not add to that. I’m just pumped for him to get to Athens, let’s celebrate that! I have watched his film so many times in the past year and have probably doubled that total since the news that he was more or less a lock to the Dawgs! Excited to see where our O can go! Go Dawgs!
I get it, but I wish he had taken this a bit more formally since he's attempting public relations.
Agree with you and if anything I posted appeared to be making fun of his grammar then I apologize because I wasn't. I understand it's slang. It's just that there are those of us older folk who don't understand the slang. Not saying I have any problem with it. I'm saying that I literally don't understand it.
I think she just meant slang tbh
I have heard many kids explain their side on cases like this. They are usually no where near the truth. Kids perspective are usually very skewed. I always try to tell them how much better it would have been if they had just said yes sir and done what the adults in charge said. Then you can explain your side. Problem is kids these days think what they want matters more and that the adults should listen to them first.
I understand that the university misses out on kids all the time. I’m talking about the forum itself or recruiting “experts”. I want her to be as excited as I am about the big 3 but because @SoFL_Dawg said so isn’t really cutting it lol.
“kids these days”
Should just say “kids”. Adolescents aren’t done maturing. Always been the case. It’s not different now. Every generation since the beginning of time has been convinced that every generation was normal up until this generation of kids. Truth is they are all the same and all unique in their own way. But the one thing all 17 year olds have had in common forever is that they aren’t done maturing. That doesn’t happen biologically until our mid 20’s.
Regarding Evans, he’s acting his age, which is to say less than perfect. But his coaches really fell short in their handling of everything. Those are grown folks who should know how to lead.
Glad I wasn't like that when I was a kid /s
Bro it's not a "kids these days" thing. It's a kid thing. Absolutely nothing wrong with kids these days that doesn't apply to kids 50 years ago. People live and learn. It's called "wisdom"
If Mom explained it as a family reason to Coach and Coach still took enough issue to suspend him over it then let's be honest..Coach was gonna find a reason or instigate one, one way or another. They were going to win this game with or without Evans because the other team lost their playmaker at QB. And I don't believe this was about instilling discipline.
In the end I have to thank Coach anyway. We've had freaky bad luck w/ some of our croots in the HS games. He who shall not be named injured his thumb, and Zamir had an ACL injury. Coach probably inadvertently saved Evans from the GA curse. Good guy in my book
Some folks on here simply did not understand what the kid was saying. I know I got a headache trying to translate it. That would be different from poking fun at the mess.
@carnivore Understandable, I’m sure many of the people posting simply couldn’t understand, but there were certainly those “poking fun” as well. My point is that even if you don’t get it, there is no reason to go on about it, you should understand the gist of what he was saying. Talking about it in the way that many were would probably be received as negative by Evans, who doesn’t need any more people talking negatively about him. All I’m trying to say is we should be lifting these guys up, we’re Dawgnation and he’s a Dawg.
Supposedly Jon Kay has said less than stellar things about Evans since the game. I think both sides are being ridiculous at this point.
I also may be mistaken but I could've sworn Evans lives with his Grandma so his mom coming probably is big to him. Is what it is though.
I think it’s a rude phone thing. Everything on the **** phones is always so much more important than wherever we are.
My mom is just as bad as Zach Evans with a phone.
To hell with your job , your team, your coaches , your family (in the room) whatever. We all bow to the almighty phone.
If he was actually with his family and they told him to put his phone up - he wouldn’t he’s be too busy communicating with his team / coaches.
It wasn’t a family emergency he had - so I’m not buying it. I can’t wait to see him play , but I’m not giving him a pass or calling it kids being kids. If the rule was hand over the phone he should have handed it over. After handing it over , he could later ask if he could check in with family or - call from another phone ?
For those wondering this message was typed on my phone while I should be doing something else.
@SoFL_Dawg is a pretty good judge of talent......but he doesn't know any more than the coaches know which kids will make it and which kids won't.
If you go through the list of signees over the years you'll see names that didn't live up to the hype.
QB is the big one......lots of highly rated kids that didn't meet expectations.
I know what you really want are names......I'll have to go back and look.
Just a quick realization... Staff has yet to miss on a QB talent wise that has signed.
Eason -> Fromm -> Fields
It makes me exicited to think what DJU, Stroud, Beck, and Mathis all have to offer
Trenton Thompson had health issues, Ray Drew was good not great...they were both considered can’t miss prospects on the defensive line. Both did their best and are DGDs though.
I'd add that Beck has been on campus at camp the last couple of summers so the team knows better than anyone what he can/projects to do in their offense
If the look at the qbs the staff went after last class it really points to their ability to identify qb talent. Off the top of my head I remember us pursuing Jayden Daniels, Dillon Gabriel, and of course JRP all of whom had great freshman years
That's it. The coach spoke to his mom, and coach was still an ass about it. Says everything.
As to kicking the coach on the way out... after the way Evans has been treated, I can see why he is hot. And the coach spoke to his mom!
Hope Zach clears the registers and starts anew. Everything points to a dynamic teammate.
And, it is spelling/slang and not grammar that it the main issue, right? Understand the slang and the grammar, such as it isn't, isn't a problem. To me, at least. Go Dawgs!
