Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Anyway...
Just saw the Braves tap feet instead of high-five...
Yay 2020
The Lancet is a good journal. Retractions happen. Yeah the WHO restarted it back in early June and ended it two weeks later because they had no evidence it worked for treating COVID
First glance. For July I had the deaths running at mid -upper 20s for the first 2 weeks, moving up to the mid 30s for the third week and 40 per day for the last week giving a total of 900 for the month, So far the actual is 63 ahead of the projection but that will likely drop to around 25 over the next 2 days. The last 4 days look to be around 190 total giving a month total around 950. The cases (7 day average) have been fairly steady since 7/15, peaked 7/17 then slower declined to 1,770 today. The projection at 40,000 foot level would be that deaths will peak at around 335 (48 per day) for the second week of August then drop back to 45 per day for the 3rd week. The totals thru yesterday's report were:
The NEW cases as a % of NEW people tested at 17% is not as bad as Florida and certainly better than Arizona but is still up there. This likely means that the number of cases is being constrained by testing so deaths may be higher than outlined above because cases are understated. For reference the same % was 11% for the month of June.
As an aside, much has been made of the cases in Arizona leveling out and declining the last few days. This is a false narrative IMO as testing has been even worse of late. For June their % was 16.7% and has risen to 25.3% for July thru yesterday indicating a greater number of cases being missed.
You can see that SC has one of the lowest increase in Chg %+ and comparing with Alabama which had a similar increase in testing SC had a 44% increase in daily cases v Bama at 92%. Obviously FL is of most concern going forward followed by GA, LA and AL. AZ is a continuing problem.
I realize that this is just my theory as to why a 7 day average is more reliable that individual days vary on hospitalizations and deaths.
With those states that report 1 day in arrears,
Saturday - posted numbers are slightly lower than previous days as they are Friday numbers and everyone knows that Friday is POETS day (Pee Off Early Tomorrow's Saturday). Therefore an earlier cut-off (4pm v 6 or 8pm) reduces number of Hosp/Deaths.
Sunday - Reduced staff on Saturday to report numbers and especially true in smaller locations with a noon cut-off.
Monday - Only a skeleton (forgive the pun) staff in the office on Sunday so more locations "zero" report.
Tuesday - Monday is "catch-up" day and covers those under reported on previous days.
The other factor that comes into play varies considerably state by state. That is the reporting of LTC facilities. Some report daily, some 2-3 times a week and some (mainly small) report weekly.
For those that report "Day of" the issues are similar but without the lag.
A Mod's day on this thread.....
Your sacrifice is noble and worthy of great admiration...
Oh my! Can't wait for your next post (after buttering up to the mods) 🤣🤣
My sacrifice usually feels like two 2 toothpicks dipped in ghost pepper sauce and poked into my eyes reading some post. Also nose swabs stirred in cayenne pepper and used for a Covid test....just to keep the thread on topic. Very "admiral"....
Wow! Look at Denmen. Stirring the pot.🤣
I have found this COVID thread helpful....but mostly it makes me sad. I’m sad that we can’t humble ourselves and speak with sensitivity and respect to one another. These are dark times and we’re so often on a hair trigger emotionally. It would be nice if we remember we make it more hellish by attacking one another and squabbling like children.
Not sure who would dv a post like this. Or why.
Just trying to keep a dark and divisive subject light and friendly
Good for you, bro. Thanks for all the work you do on this.
$5 and I'll let you know. "Why" will be answered by the "who"....😉
