It IS deep, but…IF Strider can get back to his old form, IF Sale continues his dominance and IF Schwelly can continue to stay steady, that's 3 wins in 5 games fairly often. That's .600 winning percentage. Then, IF Grant Holmes and whomever (Elder ?) can win a few, then….I'm saying there's a chance. But the hole IS deep - very deep. Of course, if they can start hitting with runners in scoring position, that would help. Maybe even "fat/out of shape" Michael Harris can continue contributing.

This is a very frustrating season…. Love them.. but they’re in such a deep hole now.
The defense is among the best in MLB. The rotation lost another key pitcher this year, but the staff is exceeding expectations. Ronald Acuna is way better than Juan Soto and he could get a billion dollars in a couple years .
One thing is missing…hits with RISP. I don't like Riley at #2 in the order. He is a legitimate clean up hitter. Harris is chasing too much to count on in that spot right now, but I sure would like to see Ozzie or White force their into that spot. Stabilizing that batting order needs to happen soon
Not a bad suggestion. Riley is, to me, chasing too much. Better farther down the order. Ozzie seems to be waking up a bit - maybe give him a shot at it. If they have to play Harris, because of defense (although he may be too fat, evidently) I'd prefer him in the lower third of the order until he gets some consistency.
Gotta sweep the lowly Rockies you would think to have a shot at turning this around.

Lowly Rockies? Right you are. They have won just 12 games so far.
But the worst team ever had to be the 1899 Cleveland Spiders who played prior to the modern era and won just 20 games. That record is safe. Hopefully for Rockies fans.
I wonder how many games they played in a season back then.
I think they played 154, even though it was just a couple of years before the start of modern era.
In 1875-1885, several teams played just 50 games or so.

Oddly enough it was the very year Maris broke Ruth's single season mark hitting 61. Hence the asterisk. Which was unfair to Maris.
Nice win by Braves. Elder wasn't sharp but Braves bats picked them up in the late innings, scoring 11 runs in the 6th-8th innings. Big 3-run homer by Michael "too fat" Harris and some really good situational hitting by the other "fat. out-of-shape" Braves. Good start to the series.
Strider looked like the old Strider. That was good. Sale wins today we get the sweep and maybe can get this team moving again.
Not sure how many of you are familiar with the Pythagorean Theory of Baseball. Was developed by Bill James the father of modern Baseball analytics. Basically is says if you have scored this many runs all year and given up this many your record should be this. It's pretty accurate too.
If you've ever seen the movie Moneyball it's used in the film as well. When the Jonah Hill character is explaining to Billy Beane we need to score this many runs and only surrender this many to make the playoff he is referring to this formula.
The Braves record according to the formula right now should be 37-32. Not 31-38. They are 6 games behind where the numbers say they should be. Those that follow the team will understand this. They have lost 1 run games late in almost comical ways.
Not saying they have played well. They haven't. But they haven't really been as bad as their record says either. And you have to figure that starts to level out a little.
As for won/loss record, another baseball "rule" is that "things even out". I look for some of those one-run losses to even out.
But here are some other #s. It might take 90 wins to make the playoffs. That means we might need at least 59 wins. With 86 games left to play, we'd have to win 68% of our remaining games. That would be difficult. It would mean we would have to play incredibly well, especially within our division. I suspect some team has done that before, but not often. It's a deep hole, but I think the Braves have their shovels out.
Just a thought, but, how do you DIG your way OUT of a deep hole?
