I have never been a fan of they guy but will have to say based on the eye test he looks overall to have it all together this year.
He'll never wow you with his WHIP rating but this is a bottom line business to the extreme. A result is a result, Julio is getting them now.
Julio might go down as the most under appreciated Brave ever. He generally always gives the Braves a chance to win. He’s not a #1 ace type, but is a solid #2-3 starter that had to be the ace in the early to mid 2010s (because the Braves are cheap). His prime (not that he isn’t still solid) was spent on awful Braves teams.
I am very interested to see how Folty does Friday night against the Mets with it being his next start since the Dodgers. He has me worried that he may slip back into way he was pitching prior to being moved down. He gave up a big homer and then let it get to him too much and did not get himself reeled back in for the next batter and served up another homer. His body language tells the tale for me and has me up the air on where he is headed, does anyone see the same thing or am I looking to deep?
Does Folty see a sports psychologist? If he doesn't, he should.
If management isn't doing everything they can to get Folty's head right then they are being penny wise and dollar dumb. If they had to pay a sports psychologist around the clock to get him where he needs to be mentally it would be well worth it.
Folty only gave up two earned runs against the Dodgers but only one was a homer. He does throw a lot of pitches and not usually all that efficiently.
Yeah, I guess I was attributing Folty with the 2 HR that Newcomb gave up the night before when looking back. My bad, but the point does remain that he only lasted into the 4th and was clearly up and down with his pitching.
I thought that's what you meant. Newcomb has been pretty good for us as of late, but once in a while he just comes in and performs really badly. Relievers can't walk people, it just leads to so much trouble.
My knowledge of teams/players outside of the Braves is limited (one could argue it’s not good for the Braves too lol) but with B-Mac hurt does anyone see them going after Francisco Cervelli? I don’t know about his defense but his offense is respectable if he can stay healthy. Or would we be better served calling someone up?
Jackson was called up, I think.
I feel bad for Soroka, the kid can't buy a win.
See yah next year marlins!!!!
His teammates should buy him dinner
They signed him today.
Yeah, AA finally answered my calls and I told him to give him a shot. Bout **** time he listens to me.
But really, I hadn’t heard that so I’ll go see what’s being said about the deal. Thanks for the heads up
At least. The Reds had a pitcher named Mario Soto in the 1980s who was absolutely snake bit for years. One season he pitched something like 270 innings with around a 3.00 ERA and his record was around .500. This went on for 5 or 6 years. I trust Mike's luck will start evening out soon though.
Speaking of buying diner. We should buy The Marlins' groceries for a month. Take away our games against them and we're 9 games over .500.
There was a number of years in the 80s where the ERA champ had a losing record in NL. Nolan Ryan was one if I remember correctly.
Big series this weekend gents 😎
