LOL, none of us are football experts. I think most just played, coached or watched the game enough to have a surface level understanding.
Vaughn is a beast bro. If he were in red and black, he’d probably start for us last night. He took a few for a ride last night.
Weird game. Score is not reflective of how dominant the dawgs were. I think the best part is that our mistakes are what held the score low. The problems should be fixable. Uga dictated its will in all 3 phases. I'm happy and if your complaining now it's going to be a long season. The dawgs looked the best to me out of the top 3. Bama and clemson clearly struggled a little bit while the dawgs looked legit from the get go.
There not much Tovar’s complain about last night. It’s week 1, **** penalties from playing hard I can live with. The defense really responded well to adversity every time last night which was great to see. Offense did sputter but that is expected when you’ve are trying to see how guys will look out there.
3rd down stat not time to panic many times Fromm took a check down instead the of forcing something which could have easily lead to turnover and a shift in momentum. Offense will work out kinks the next 2 weekends.
turn those second half FGs in to TDs and all would be well in Dawg Nation. Kearis fumble hurt and hurt more now that we know he was injured on it.
The Great Wall is really good at power run blocking but that size and lack of foot speed can be exploited by defenses that stem (movement just before the snap) blitzes and stunts. Texas did it in the bowl game and Vandy did it tonight
The D was flying around which is good. I will live with the penalties because they were made while playing aggressively. We do need to do our job first and stay home. We were not good on counters and reverses, plays meant to hurt overly aggressive defenses.
Vaughn wouldn't beat out Swift. He might be about where Herrien is though.
How sound is the logic that fell behind and couldn't catch LSU with explosive plays because we hadn't done it in games before - games where we were pretty much in the lead the whole time. I don't get that logic. I won't pretend to know enough to explain the LSU loss, but it's hard for me to believe it's because we didn't use explosive plays in the 2nd half of previous games.
Maybe this wasnt evident to you last night but Herrien was the starter. So by your own deduction, Vaughn would beat out Swift.
'Vaughn wouldn't beat out Swift. He might be about where Herrien is though.'
While contemplating this statement I accidentally DVed.
Vaughn wouldn't beat out Swift.
Ummm. He might. It would be 1a and 1b at the least.
He is a serious talent.
Herrien being in on the first play meant little to nothing in my opinion. Swift is our #1 back as of now.
Agree
One in particular in Nov for me
There's not a switch that can be flipped to make it happen just because you want it to
I don’t have a problem with the “complaining”, it is more so the lack of understanding. But, I have seen a lot of opinions on here, TOS and social media that shows a lack of real football knowledge. A lot of what is being criticized most heavily from last nights game is just silly. And it gets compounded by a bad take being read by other posters, they don’t realize the take is flawed and then everyone starts agreeing with that opinion. I am pretty sure Kirby and his staff have a good handle on what to do. Sometimes it is better to listen rather than try to explain why we are doomed after a 24 point SEC win on the road.
We played pretty good last night. Yes, Herrien got the senior start and well deserved, but Swift showed why he is one of the top backs in the nation. He was explosive and quick through the holes. Great to see Drob get his touchdown. You know there is more of that coming. The D played a heck of a game. No issue there at all. Biggest concern is the 10 penalties which is very fixable. We’d have had a shutout with out the penalties.
