Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I had one lined up recently that would have been very clever/humorous, not a stretch as to context, and easily interpreted as non-political, but would have not been taken as such by (perhaps) the majority of this forum. So, I didn't launch it.
I often bite my tongue/fingers due to some who are not as judicious and slip a brief political swipe in. Makes me angry that they get away with it. My restraint has limits and I have Report-ed comments as "Politics". Some have been removed to the credit of the mods.
The forum is far better by leaving politics at the archway. The best approach is not to culpa in the first place.
I agree, Twitter is certainly not the most scientific polling structure out there, and so polls done electronically are described as "unscientific." That said, I still find internet polls and Twitter polls interesting, even if we do have to build in a margin for error.
I appreciate this data, Bankwalker -- information is always a good thing!
Nah, man. I was just joking with you about being “off topic”, too. The reason this thread got started is because the one mod felt the need to stand on his soapbox about being “off topic”, which was what he always cried about long before Sentell made his big mistake. The other discussion was just fine and stayed civil. There was no need to close it, so now we have this thread nobody understands because it can’t take place in the thread where it belongs. YAWN
I stated numerous times to stay on topic, you didn't. Other members comments were deleted as well, so you weren't singled out. Also, I stated numerous times that you, or anyone else, are free to start an off-topic political thread. Below is a screenshot, for everyone, of the steps to create a new discussion, hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer any other questions, comments or concerns. Thanks!
Thanks, Barney. Keep guarding that empty parking lot. Never know when someone might show up to commit a crime.
It's good to see Barney keeping an eye on parking lots when we have so many Ernest T. Bass in the neighborhood.
Make sure somebody keeps the rocks picked up
@Teddy You wrote above, "Also, I stated numerous times that you, or anyone else, are free to start an off-topic political thread." I hope 1. you didn't do it, and b. it is against the rules. I tried to find the "be nice" guidelines that used to show up when one logs in. In that I recall it saying that politics and religion are to be avoided, as in, verboten/banned.
I click on Discussions which brings everything over. People do not write an informative title for a key topic, much less will they do so for a political swipe. So how am I to avoid that crap without opening it? Say it ain't true, @JeffSentell ! No politics! Puleeeze!!!
And...
IT’S STILL NOT OK TO TWEET RECRUITS...
(off soapbox)
Have any fans from this forum actually tweeted at recruits? Cause that is definitely not ok. In fact it's certifiably creepy and sad. I hope that stuff is not coming from anyone in here.
I'll admit everytime we're after a pretty decent croot, I'll tweet them "We'd love to have ya in Athens. #GoDawgs #DoMore". But that's it....and it's always when they've posted that they've gotten an offer from UGA or when they've listed us in their top schools.
Glad you posted that @Bulldawg1982. I painted with too broad of a brush. I'm not a tweeter but I imagine generic stuff like that is totally cool.
Thanks OP, I love stats. Count me among the 75% of Americans who don't have a Twitter account, I never open the site.
@FirePlugDawg it is Pretty simple. Don’t read off topics threads. The filter is available. Your problem if you don’t want to use it
Not a solution. Why should I be denied the wisdom of my colleagues at the expense of some yahoo who needs THIS site to make a political comment?
That’s like saying you can’t watch ESPN because a 24 hr news channel is on your cable plan. This complaining about such a modest and irregular amount of political debate makes me want to innumdate the place just so the crybabies are more unjustifiably miserable. No empathy for you or your “colleagues” who seek a fascist form of free speech on the forum.
Didn't take long. Listen @Teddy is not saying incidental. He said someone could start a political topic as long as it is in the Off Topic category. That means, a purposeful, full blooded, political OP. NO. THANK. YOU.
Oh. How is NOT discussing politics fascist? (That is rhetorical as I do not care how you arrived at that notion.)
You are way off topic discussing the availability of political discussion in my thread about twitter demographics. Go start your own anti-political discussion in the off topic section, sir.
34% of Americans 5'8'' or taller use Twitter between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Of those 53% are liars, 9% greatly exaggerate.
