- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Agree with you man. I've been annoyed at CNN specifically for what I perceive to be some biased reporting and all. Sharing news and updates is important too. All in this together.
As one who plays Corona Roulette daily at work still good to go, more mentally stressed than anything else and limited people in the clinic, the d.a.m.n constant ringing phone is the worst, but taking care of the health of our Sailors, Marines thier families and our Retired folks is still rewarding and i would not have it any other way.
I'm fine with sharing links. I usually spend some time in search of good news myself. Italy has had their cases/deaths trending lower the last few days
As per the OP, just checking in…. The numbers of positive cases are growing very quickly at our hospital system (at least the one I work for). Many projects happening – moving existing floors to open new floors specifically for COVID, moving office space around to generate more patient rooms, even opening full floors in older buildings for the influx. All of this happening every day with the same staff – not hiring anyone else to help with projects. We’re pretty much at a skeleton staff as of now with all the extra work being added. I’m completely drained at the end of every day.
Stay safe! Follow the “right things” to do and lets’ get through this guys!
So, is there toilet paper in the US yet?
@Dawgsauce Are you okay? Haven't seen anything from you in a while.
Alabama is reporting a surplus...
@pgjackson I'm one of those types you would expect to blast the administration. But, I hate the idea of treating things differently based on party. If someone has a 211,000 jobs report I'm going to rate that the same no matter who is president (I'm using this specific example for a reason because it is a straight up fact and you can go look at different reporting on the same darn facts). It boils my blood when any news media takes the same thing and treats it differently on the left or right. I feel having different views is important, but that is very, very different from taking the same information and skewering it or praising it. If anyone has examples that anger them, please send me them by DM. But please don't post damned if you do, damned if you don't without proof because I'm not seeig it and I don't think that's what is going on.
The media has given only positive coverage to the use of naval ships serving as hopsitals and the military setting up hospitals because this was a good and logical action. There is no left or right to this (I believe there is no left or right to most things actually). The media gave mostly negative coverage about the China travel ban because it was not a ban based on the virus, it was based on nationality. I would have supported an early ban on travel from China if all nationalities were treated the same because it is about the virus and transmission not one's passport. If there was a travel quarantine coming from China early on for everyone , the media wouldn't have criticized it (or if they did they would have been wrong). But you don't treat an epidemic by implementing a travel ban based on nationality. Viruses don't discriminate based on passports. The policy was **** because it was not effective (as we sadly have seen) and it deserved criticism because the policy is an example of allowing one's political bias to provide the answer to an analytical problem rather than analyzing the problem and solving it. Gosh I really, really hate the left and the right. I mean really. To me left and the right politics are only an excuse not to be analytical.
The other subject mentioned is Hydroxychloroquine. I see it mentioned a lot above about it being used for autoimmune diseases, but I'm going to guess that most on this board don't know that much about autoimmune diseases. My father was one of the leading specialists for lupus and ran the Jacqueline McClure Lupus Center in Atlanta. People flew from around the world to get treated by him for lupus and as his son I got dragged into the hospital every weekend so he could do rounds to check on patients at that center. He never used hydroxycloroquine because it wasn't effective for lupus. Back in the 80s he started treating lupus with steroids and was often condemned by other doctors who were paid by the pharmaeutical industry to use hydroxychloroquine. I don't know whether Hydroxychloroquine works on Covid-19, but I think all of us including the president should figure out if it is effective and how often it is effective and under what conditions it is effective before we start circulating rumors about it. I am more than willing to shorten that process and run less tests and reduce any obstacles to having it be faster, but let's at least get some data first.
Well it’s late at night on March the 30th. My family is ok, I’m still ok, and I continue to pray that all of y’all are still ok too. I was pretty sad to hear that Covid-19 took the Country music singer Joe Diffie. Prayers daily from me for each and every one of you, and your families too. Good night DAWGS.
I'm convinced the telephone is the worst invention of all time.
All is still well in my part of Germany. Haven't seen much of an impact from the actual virus yet. However my friend who lives in New Hampshire, close to the border with Mass, thinks his whole family caught it last week. Both Mid 30's with a two year old. He said they had all the symptoms except shortness of breath/chest tightness and were told not to go to the hospital or get tested. Had to self quarantine. He said him and his wife both got fevers of 104 and were pretty much confined to their bed. Just completely wiped them out for three days but then on the fourth day it was like nothing had happened and they were back to normal. The week prior their son had what they thought was a bad flu that turned into pneumonia. He said the doctor told them the xrays of his lungs looked like a 70 years old who smoked their entire life. Pretty scary stuff. He thinks they caught it from their son who had gone to the Boston Aquarium and in their opinion picked it up while there. These are the first people that I know personally that have had the virus and they said it was no joke and to take the precautions seriously. He also previously believed that the economic impacts of the reaction to the virus is going to be worse then the actual virus. I haven't asked him if he still stands by that yet as they just got over it and i don't think the timing is right yet but i'll let you guys know if his opinion changed after having it.
MOD Mode below:
As far as arguing some of the political responses/news articles I would recommend that if you are mainly talking to just one other poster on here and you know your comments are meant specifically for that person maybe just send them a PM instead of dragging the fight out on the public thread. I'm not trying to suppress anyone's opinion or right to comment its just not fun to read two people arguing back and forth with each other when you don't have a dawg in the fight. Post your news article or opinion and if someone wants to question it PM the poster so you can discuss the issue between yourselves. If you do not know how to private message (PM) someone let me or another Mod know and we can walk you through it.
Bad news guys. We went from 98 confirmed cases on March 1 to 164,785 at the end of March. If that rate doesn't slow down we're gonna have 465 trillion cases by the end of May.
Isn't Germany handling this remarkably well? They're right around a 1% mortality rate.
