Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

It won’t last
@Old_lady_dawg_fan check out this site if you looking for a combo style. Might help in deciding what direction you want. May be a little more cost effective than the suggestion of a Gas + Kamado/ Green Egg set up.
Of course I prefer my own, but this store bought rub is pretty good. Anybody have a favorite rub from the shelf?
Today’s vittles
Bad byrons rub
I keep seeing this and figure it would be used to season fresh Gator meat, say sometime around the end of October?
Yessir, big ol' filet
Goat is a staple in India, Middle East, Spain etc. I've had it many times, but never done a burger of Goat meat before. How was it? Did you marinate or add spices to the ground Goat?
They were awesome. Even the wife thought they were good and she was hesitant to say the least. I followed the recipe in this link except I didn't have cumin and substituted chili powder instead.
Do you have a preference for side smokers? We had my childhood one for 30 years, gave it away last winter when my dad moved. I don't remember the brand but I'm looking for one now and would love one that lasts till my daughter is my age.
I learned on a side smoker - I'm assuming you mean the firebox to the side? Unless the gauge of metal is good and thick you have to fiddle with both baffles a lot to maintain a constant temperature and it consumes a lot of fuel. I finally tossed in the towel and bought a Kamado Joe and don't regret it for a minute.
edit - meant to quote you @DGDinNYC
I own a Lang and it performs well.
