@dawgbybirth I feel that connection to my own Daddy (he passed away close to New Year’s in 2016) through Georgia. My own father was the one for my memories, as he & I shared the deep love for the Georgia Bulldogs!!! He introduced me (when I was just 7) to Georgia on a day when they thumped Clemson 38-0, back in 1970. Thank you for sharing memories of you & your dad. GO DAWGS!!!
Was playing NCAA Football on Sega Genesis and wasn't smart enough to realize the Power G wasn't the Packers but Bulldogs. Stuck ever since cause I'm stubborn and loyal.

Born in the thriving metropolis of Ball Ground in Cherokee County and i can't remember a time that I didn't love my Dawgs. Chose to serve instead of attending UGA and it honestly drives me nuts. I tell my wife constantly that one day I'll use our savings to attend something just to validate myself. Is that crazy ?
When I was a kid, the primary teams televised were Bama and Notre Dame. Many of my dad’s friends were Bama fans and a few UGA fans. Everywhere I went on game day, they were either watching the game or listening to it on the radio – at that time Bama and UGA were big rivals. I was very young, and at that age with limited ways to see UGA on television, I actually liked Bama. Then I grew up! UGA was pretty damned good too. AND, that’s where I lived – Georgia. LOVED the Dawgs ever since!
My dad play for Georgia in 43 on that all freshman team at the beginning of the war that's World War II for you millennials. I have been going to Georgia games since the sixties seen all the good and bad times since then. there was no way you could root against the dogs at my dad's house. He had season tickets on the 50 yard line and we went to every home game and every bowl game until he became too old to go to the games but he kept his season tickets and I continue to going and sit on the 50-yard line until my dad passed away and of course we lost those tickets.. so I guess you could say I was born a dog fan after he passed away they held the 60th anniversary of his team since I'm since I'm named after him they called me looking for my father to attend the banquet and the game celebrating his team when they found out that my dad had passed away they invited me to the banquet to represent him man what a trip that was sitting there eating with my dad's old teammates man the stories of guys could tell.. yeah I was born a dog and I'll die dog
Dad was an FSU and UGA fan (if that's even possible). First game I can remember watching was UGA vs Purdue 2000 Outback Bowl. Don't remember anything other than the names of the teams, but I was instantly hooked.

Grew up an only child and had no family ties to the Dawgs. In 1977 we lived in Phenix City, Al and, at 7, was the youngest of a pack of kids that ran around wild in our neighborhood. I lived close to Moon Lake.
I wanted to be cool like the big kids, so I claimed Bama and the Miami Dolphins. I guess that’s what Russell County kids did back then.
One night I was watching the news and saw Rex Robinson kick a game winner for the Dogs and thought it was cool. Then I watched a game on TV and I became a Dawg.
The next year we moved to Columbus, and, by Gods grace I remained a Dawg. Most of my friends in Columbus were Auburn kids.
I renained in Columbus until my Freshman year of high school. I spent a lot of time with Frank Thomas when I was in Junior High and my freshman year.
I remember Wayne Johnson was still at Hardaway when I was there.
I live in California now, but I learned to play football in Georgia. I’m proud of that. I never grew taller than 5’11 but I was taught how to lay hat and I knocked 3 boys out in High School and Im proud of that, too.
My favorite memories were the bus rides home after the road games, with the police escorts and lights and sirens goin off. I got chills right now. “Sardines and Pork and Beans” and the whole team jumped in.
Im proud to be a Dawg and I’m proud I was raised correctly in Georgia.

Also a Hardaway Alum, class of '01. I know very well the nature of UGA vs. Auburn in the Columbus area.
I became a fan thanks to my sister who attended UGA and brought me to campus to visit as a high school sophomore. Fell in love with the campus and the women, but mostly the women.
Been a dawg ever since.
I’m certain that you know the true story behind both the “G” from Green Bay, & Georgia’s then. It was agreed upon after then Georgia HC Vince Dooley asked Green Bay for permission, & then a Georgia art student’s G was the one used for both, & Green Bay & Georgia would each hold each other “harmless” in legal speak. That’s my understanding of how things went back around 1964-65. GO DAWGS!!!
I was just a college football fan, lurking on all the message boards. Without a doubt, the SEC has the strongest conference in football, but I was disappointed in the lack of grammar, punctuation, and spelling aptitude on Volnation, TigersX, and Swampgas. Then I found a lively debate about Douglas MacArthur, George Patton, island hopping, and frontal assaults on a post titled "Not that I'm upset, but Notre Dame is being credited for what was suggested here back last winter.." on the Dawgnation forum and I was hooked! At that point it was clear: I had found a home to post my silly cartoons.
But seriously, I objectively believe we have the best forum in all of sports. We do have a black sheep or two... or ten, but they're still family.
