@texdawg
"In regards to the incidents that Evans was involved in - @SoFL_Dawg was dead on.
In regards to the fact that Evans has tried to commit to UGA a couple of times in the past few weeks and Georgia wouldn't accept yet - he is dead on.
Whether or not Georgia has moved on from Evans or not - all @SoFL_Dawg can do is trust his sources.
Is it possible things could change? Sure. Is it possible the staff is still monitoring the situation? Sure.
But regardless what the other sites say - if Georgia had zero issues with Evans - he would be committed by now.
If you don't trust @SoFL_Dawg info that's fine. But it seems that you just didn't like the bad news and you were determined to read somewhere that contradicted the info.
...am I allowed to say that I think the staff has a better read on fit and character regarding players than we do?
What if just for a second we eliminated all insider info (not that I don't love it) and just went from public observation for a sec. The UGA staff only had a few days during an open week to visit recruits. Dell is the ace. Dell went to NSHS, so clearly staff is involved with Zachary Evans.
Were they out there telling him to drop a commitment? Were they out in Texas investigating? No way to know. What we DO know is that they care enough about this particular recruit that they are spending valuable (limited!) time and resources on getting the decision right. That in and of itself is enough to quell the worries.
Think about this for a second. We have what, 22-23 available spots in this class? If you take Evans and he gets suspended, in trouble, transfers...you could have taken the BPA. That's a huge loss. You lose both the player you did take and the player you could've taken by way of opportunity cost. All this to say, evaluation is important. Character matters for its own sake, but it also matters because it can impact the ability of an amazing talent to get on the field.
Say what you want about the kid...I'm not one to down on a young man anyway, we all make mistakes...but SOMETHING occurred that warranted the #1 RB in the country being held off the field at his high school for some pretty big games. Don't you want the staff to make the right call to make sure it doesn't happen at UGA? Say you take a "lesser" back, which by no means is a guarantee...wouldn't he be better than a #1 back that can't/won't get on the field due to suspension/expulsion/transfer/etc?
This is getting to the point of “yeah, I won the lottery... but look at all of the taxes I have to pay...”
this site is more fun with inside info... the info is fluid and changes like an 18 year old man changes his mind.... because... 18 year old males... change their minds
now, maybe I am speaking only for myself, but could some of you ungrateful folks simply take the info you think is pertinent and not feel like you have to comment negatively on Every. Single. Thing?
rant over.
BTW, my post was not downing insider info. Don't know if you read it that way. My point I was attempting to make was not to bash the messenger because you don't happen to like what they say. SoFl got slammed by some folks who wanted Evans simply because he brought word that we may be moving on. I was just saying that if staff is moving on, there is an easily deducible reason—even without inside info—as to why that's ok and that there's no reason to get mad.
You love me. Always have. Bring something more to the table bro besides following me around making asinine threads. “Do more”. You’ve been a waste of time since last cycle. Funny how you went away back then, I can’t even recall what you were **** about then.
If you have real sources, go ask them about our DL recruiting. I’ve been holding some stuff for a long while. I’d love for you to be the first to drop something to prove that you are what you think you are, “knowledgeable”.
I’ll wait...
Key word from @Casanova_Flatulence is PRIOR to this weekend, meaning your info may be now outdated.
See pic below, screen shot of SFL’s OP (in it you will see it mentions the past two days which, would be end of weekend Sunday and Monday morning).
Crystal ball for Len'Neth Whitehead to USCjr. I think @SoFL_Dawg said he wanted to be a RB, which is why his recruitment dropped off. I wonder if this means a) he's being recruited as an ILB, b) he's being recruited as a second RB to pair with Lloyd, or c) he's being recruited as insurance for when Lloyd decommits?
I'm not an inside info kinda guy. I don't have a source so I rely on the info that @SoFL_Dawg provides. I believe it to be accurate info when provided - but obviously things change. When they do he's usually on top of that.
But after coaching in Texas for 29 years I've actually messed around and gotten to know a ton of current and former high school and college coaches. So every now and then, although rare, I actually have extensive knowledge about certain players and situations.
I not going to go into more detail about what I know and how - other than to say @SoFL_Dawg speaks absolute truth about the incident regarding Evans.
LOL, I could care less about you and you should know that by now, because I rarely read your posts. If I want trustworthy information about recruiting news I read Sentell, listen to Adams Podcast and check other sources I trust.
Do you have any new info to share ?
Does this mean you won’t be asking your “sources” about our DL recruiting? I’d really like you to add value. You have the attention of the forum now, was that not your goal; grab the attention?
So...whatcha gon do? Barbecue or mildew my man?
Contrary to some reports, UGA is still actively recruiting Zach Evans. The situation has been described to me as active negotiation and advisement. Take it for what it's worth.
Put your money where your mouth is regarding DL recruiting. If you're Karnac tells us - do we land Burch? Ouch, you'll have to go out on a limb for that one big guy!
