Given his skill on the recruiting trail, Fountain would have no problem finding an on field position at another Power 5 program...not sure why he would accept a demotion.
+1 for the Rounders voice
Talk about a recruiting juggernaut, sheesh. But, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
I did. Been a long day, thanks. I’ll edit. No idea on the other questions. I’d like for him to be off field analyst (assuming Coley stays) and de facto QB coach.
Enlighten me...who were the mega recruits Bobo was bringing to UGA? His last great QB find was in the late naughts. Outside of the RB room, were his offenses brimming with talent? Who were his major wins in South Georgia? Maybe Malcolm Mitchell? Don't let nostalgia cloud your judgement.
He had a few hits: Imac & Ray Drew come to mind. Both were big time croots.
Off the top of my head, Matt Stafford is one. I’ll look and let you know some more.
If you look past your nose, I would accept any help for our offense right now. Sometimes different views and opinions can pinpoint problems, find solutions and correct them.
I would not be opposed one bit if Bobo volunteered to sit in the box this weekend.....
I like the rounders voice but Brady is going nowhere. Coach O has already discussed it and said they have a plan in place. Which sounds to me whatever Brady wants he’s gonna get.
By late naughts, I was giving him credit for Aaron Murray/Zach Mettenberger (2009), his last great QB recruits. From then on, it was a series of misses (Logan Gray, Christian Lemay, Faton Batua, Brice Ramsey) and JAGs (Just another guy) like Hutson Mason.
I remember all rotten tomatoes thrown at Bobo ....If he came it would start all over again.... so for his sake warning !!!!.... stay away .... unrealistic and spoiled fan base here !!
I thought I heard Brady worked out a new deal at $1M/year for four years and a promise of LSU's OC position by then, if not sooner. (Brady is currently 30yo. Ensminger is 61yo.)
But I can't find a source for that so maybe I dreamt it.
Ray Drew is a hometown kid (as is Mike Bobo) so I will give you that he was a big time recruit (unfortunately he never developed into a big time player)
To be fair to Bobo UGA wasn't really getting studs everywhere else either, not sure if I'm sold on him as the next OC yet but don't understand ppl getting hung up on his recruiting, heck Kirby got Fromm and Eason by himself. We need stats on offense right now more than smooth talking coordinators in order to get top level recruits.
As far as QB's go, Shockley, Stafford, Murray, and Mettenberger were all signed during the Bobo era (2001-14). But CMR had something to do with that as well.
We did not recruit South Georgia especially well during that era. Lost a lot of battles in conference and even more to FSU.
Fair point. I think Bobo could help us, but I’m not Bobo or bust. If there’s better options, I’m all for it but I think he could help us.
Also not sure I would pin any QB misses on Bobo, Mark richt was there after all. You can't tell me he didn't sign off on those guys.
Yeah I’m not uncertain that Richt nixed Cam, Deshaun, and slow played Sunshine. Still Bobo was leads on some questionable QBs.
Yep, do think Bobo probably prefers pro style QBs, I'm kinda ready for a legit dual threat.
Gotta admit your last sentence was comical and painful to read at the same dàmn time.
