@SoFL_Dawg your last response was too long to quote. All these points made by you and Jake are very valid. Not all the blame is on Coley I’ve admitted that. Imo I think you’re defending Coley too much which is your prerogative and it’s cool if we all had the same opinion there’s no discussion. In regards to Fromm being “off” there’s numerous reasons why that is. Sure Coley was his QB coach last year but still had Chaney to lean on. Chaney isn’t some guru and I think UGA is better without him but he is more experienced than Coley in regards to coaching QBs. I can’t remember what Fromms offseason was like outside of UGA but if he indeed does come back I think it would be wise of him to seek an experienced QB coach outside of staff. Unless, an experienced dedicated QB coach comes in(bobo?) that can help him get back to form. It is tough losing all those receivers, no denying that but there’s plenty of teams that maybe didn’t set the world on fire but played better with inexperienced receivers than we have. We’ll see what happens but being as it’s Thursday night and there’s been no reports of any changes or additions to analysts I think we’ll have all off season to discuss what happens or doesn’t happen with the coaching staff.

Fromm has a private QB coach (one he has worked with since his HS days). I don't recall his name but the name of his "academy" is QB Country and he has trained/worked with some big name quarterbacks.

I knew Jake had worked with someone in the past was just unsure of this off season. Not saying it’s not a good camp but the only testimony given by a “big name QB” was Eli Manning. And that’s probably an endorsement because of their association with Ole Miss but who knows. Maybe Jake could benefit from a different private coach as well. Just from my seat on the couch last year he started slow but at the end of the year balled out and played his best and looked like his JR year was going to be like the end of his sophomore year. Not the case his Jr year has looked like the beginning of his Soph year and never picked up.

The website claims Daniel Jones (a first round pick) and Gardner Minshew (a rookie starter) as clients.

  • Kdubb0211Kdubb0211 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

I wouldn’t call them big names yet, I mean Gardner didn’t do much until he got to Wazzou. He was gonna be a backup at Bama before Leach got him. Daniel Jones also was coached by David Cutcliffe who like Leach is a “guru”. I’m not saying the school is bad I’m not saying it’s not elite just saying there’s questions when it comes to Jake Fromm.

I’d like to see him work with Whitfield but that’s just me.

I had always heard Tom House was the top QB guru. At least in terms of mechanics. Current or former clients include Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Matt Stafford, and Matt Ryan. But he's based in California so maybe it's not feasible. Or maybe he only works with pros.

There’s a lot of good ones out there. Shea Crouse and Whitfield to my knowledge. But that’s about the extent of my qb coach names. As far as private anyway.

Edit: Nevermind, no context to that rumor.

  • Kdubb0211Kdubb0211 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

If that was the case bobo would be here by now and someone would know he was on campus. I seen the same rumor on 24/7 and it’s just that. Or maybe I’m wrong we’ll see

If you are bringing Bobo in as co-OC/QB coach/playcaller, I don't see anyway Coley stays because you have just publicly stripped him of all power and authority so you wouldn't have to worry about finding a spot on the staff. Honestly, I wouldn't be super geeked at bringing Bobo in as an analyst...I think there are better, more innovative minds out there that could help modernize our offense than him and if you are looking to use the analyst position as a way to groom and nurture a future OC candidate (like Johnson was) I would it be a more forward looking than a nostalgia play like Bobo. It also think it is notable that that all the places he is being connected with are more a product of his strong personal relationship with the HCs (Muschamp and Smart...Pruitt (analyst)) and his likability as a person (see this heavily in the UGA beat) than a reflection of the esteem in which his offenses are held.

Great debate @SoFL_Dawg and @GrayDawg I enjoyed reading. Hopefully the two of them figure it out and hang 40 on LSU tomorrow.

On Bobo , I read where he reached a settlement with CSU , and also more rumor he may go to SC as OC

His settlement is offset by whatever he earns at new job - so he’s going to earn the same amount no matter what. If you’re Bobo , it seems like you could find a better spot than OC for a coach on the hot seat. Maybe I just don’t like SC.
