Yeah why would you have given up on Anderson already? He is our best pitching prospect right now.

Fwiw I’m out on allard. Not enough stuff wise, his velo and curve have both regressed since he was drafted. Best case he is a number 5 starter.

Gohara... who knows what he is doing now? Still hopeful but not expecting anything

Newk... time to give up on him being an ace. Still hopeful he gets it together enough to Be a mid range rotation piece.

Also, if you thought all these you listed would pan out to major league caliber arms, let alone aces, you don’t understand pitching prospects. They usually don’t turn out to be super valuable.

It's too early to call Allard a bust. It's too early to even think Anderson might be a bust. Ian just turned 21 May 2nd and he's performed well at every stop.

I think the saying in pitching circles is "draft 10 to get 1".

Donm. No question it's wise to overload your minor league system with elite pitching prospects. If you don't factor in attrition and fail rates, you're preparing to fail.

Braves getting pounded by the Nationals tonight, but Austin Riley is continuing his amazing start. Has a grand slam tonight to give him 7 HR and 20 RBI in his first 14 games.

Should be rookie of the month for May despite only playing about half of the month.

Riley won't continue quite this pace but if you're Atlanta do you at least consider moving one of your veterans to open an everyday spot for Riley while also trying to obtain some pitching depth?

Ender most likely lost his starting job (but will stay and be a 4th OF) unless Riley just goes absolutely icy (which would not be too toooo surprising) or they decide that Riley's offense doesn't override him faking LF.

It's going to be a while anyway, as Ender's not even doing baseball activities. Have to imagine that he's at the earliest, 2 weeks away.

Yeah, likely Joyce gets sent down when Ender gets back, at least that's my guess. Can't take a guy that hits a HR ever other game out of the lineup.

Johan's probably going to go down whenever Ender actually does return. Culberson can cover all infield spots and while he was getting PT before, Johan played his way out of that PT.

How awesome would it be for the Braves to have back to back ROY award winners. And extra icing on the cake, how about throwing in a Cy Young winner in Soroka.

What a mistake it would be to send Johan down. A defensive **** at multiple positions. It's hard to get in a groove without a considerable # of AB's and he hasn't gotten that many - yet. His history shows he can hit when given ample opportunities. If anything, they should trade him and get something of value back. He's too good to shuttle between Gwinnett and the home side.

It seems just a matter of how soon Pache takes somebody's spot in the outfield.

So do we have a deal in place for Kimbrel and/or Keuchel at 12:01am on Tuesday?

BEACH. I can only hope Liberty cuts a check for Kimbrel. Unless he has some undisclosed medical issue or there's a dead hooker somewhere, it seems a no brainer at this point. With Kimbrel we'd have one of The best records in MLB right now.

I sure hope so, but can't get your hopes up when it comes to Liberty spending money.
