We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

OK. I'm confident that one of the 4 of you is correct in your 40 times math calculation..
However, I'm not confident about which one it is
Don't mean to put you on blast but it needs to be said to others out there who may be doubting. And you can't compare Wren over Flowe or Sewell because it's not the same position group. They both may very well have extremely successful careers but both of them together don't benefit this roster overall as much as having a potential year 1 returner. The best part is we can risk it on Wren because we have Kearis & Blalock who will be ready to roll but neither have Wren's big play potential, we are talking elite, get to top speed in 2 steps, type of speed.
@bigdawg65 Already beat me to it but the staff's history on 3*s is pretty impressive so far. Just going down @Denmen185's list think about major contributors JUST this year:
Herrien: IDK about you but I like to know I have Herrien ready to run every play in the book rather than depend on a freshman to come in and perfect his pass pro assignment against bama in the 4th Q against their latest 1st round pass rusher..
Stokes: We are literally sitting around acting like this dude is just a plug and play, not significant drop off, type talent/production as the former Thorpe award winner, who was also a 3*.. All Stokes did was produce HAVOC last year. That's all Kirby is preaching now!
Kindley: Graded out as our top OL on PFF. If he builds off of next year he may have the type of year I thought Galliard would have in '18. If he stays healthy he's a safe day two draft pick.
Rice: He was considered a 3* for the longest time until late in the process when we beat out LSU for him and I think Auburn got in late. He very well could be like any of LSU's latest ILB they've put into the league. That staff knew what they wanted and barley missed him.
Reed: We thought he may not come back for his 5th year. This dudes is just improving draft status at this point and would we rather hope a freshman or sophomore panned out by now? Glad I got a 5th year guy on the back end of the defense.
Look that's just 5. Go down denmen's list: Tae Crowder, David Marshall, Tyler Simmons, Tyrique McGhee will all have significant PT and if Landers can finish the drill he could be that dude. Every elite team is taking 3-5 of these guys a year. You know how all the elite teams are playoff contenders? It's because they land 3*'s that run 4.3's or freshmen that can start midway through their 1st year like Jordan Davis. This staff is sharp shooting their evals right now and Dan Mullen is just the latest victim in the crosshairs. We're winning in every conceivable way at the moment.
Speed kills. I don’t care if he’s a 3 star. Give him 18 months with Cortez Hankton and I’m confident he’ll be just fine.
4.3 vs 4.5 = 1.8 yards or 5 ft 5 inches
A guy running a 4.5 40 yard dash runs 38.2 yards in 4.3 seconds, while the guy running the 4.3 runs 40 yards. So on a 40 yard fly route with no bumps, no fakes, no changes in direction, the guy running the 4.5 is 5.4 feet behind the guy running the 4.3.
Makes a big difference
As I said before, I'm not saying the coaches don't know what they are doing. I'm just kinda shocked at how everyone is absolutely convinced that a guy they hadn't even heard of a week ago(to be fair perhaps longer as I heard the name in passing a month or so ago) is now the steal of the national recruiting scene and a certain star.
If he signs I'll welcome him and pull for him to do well. I won't be expecting him to play as a freshman and I certainly won't be throwing out Tyreek Hill comps. Frankly it's unfair to compare him to Mecole, a former 5* with touchdown catches in the SEC and NFL draftee.
I already apologized for raining on peoples' parades and I'm moving on from WRs. Just watched Caleb Williams' highlights as Jeff mentioned him and Coach Donnan raved about him as much as Sewell the other day. I like him.
PS: I hope Wren IS good. I just don't see it as the sure thing genius move as some but I LOVE watching good skill players so it's not like I'm rooting against the guy. I can come off as contrarian but that doesn't equal me wanting guys to fail or coaches to get fired. I kinda enjoy seeing the Dawgs win as much as the next guy.
Long story short, I don’t see Wren as a last resort. Personally, I prefer Wren. Both are great players. We should be happy with either.
Show your work 4.3 vs 4.4 sec/40 yds
For a 4.4 - 4.3 = .1 sec difference what is the yardage difference?
4.4 is to 4.3 as 40 yds (for 4.4) is to x (for 4.3)
4.4/4.3 = 40/x
reducing terms
4.4x = 40 times 4.3 = 172
solving
x =172/4.4 = 39.09 yds
So, someone that can run .1 sec faster over 40 yds will finish while
someone at a 4.4 sec pace will be at the 39.09 yd point. almost 3 feet behind.
@SoFL_Dawg So we're expecting news (good or bad) from Burch soon? I know he's been very quiet.
Don't forget the curvature and rotation of the earth. Details.
