Any idea of what our selling point is for Stroud? It seems tough to sell a guy into coming into a QB battle. Most kids would rather be sold on being the marquee recruit. I have a hard time believing we can win this one over Ohio State, I wish we'd focus on Zach Evans and convincing Jakey to come back
Edit: Jakey was autocorrect, it's what my son and wife call him. But I'll let it stay.
Wouldn't he have to compete with JF at OSU? I imagine most recruits would rather take their chances with another incoming freshman, than to battle a player who has been in college for a few years and knows the playbook.
I would imagine the selling post is that Fromm might leave and you will be able to battle it out with another true freshman, a guy who has only played a handful of D1 snaps and possibly a redshirt freshman that has never taken a college snap and a walk-on.
I guess, but I think it's easier to say "wait one year and you're the guy". Selling a guy on coming into competing seems like a tough sell these days. Seems like a recipe for a transfer, especially if Fromm does return. But I understand your point
I don't disagree with your statement but believe it would be likely an "either/or". As we saw w/ Eason/Fromm/Fields (Murray/Baker), etc. - highly rated QBs one class apart isn't gonna work out over 50% of the time.
They’re going to take the best QBs they can get each year. Loser of competition would likely transfer out, it’s the way the game is played now days.
I don’t see these combos happening:
Stockton>Everyone else
I hope for option 1 Williams isn't the one that ends up being left out.
Don’t disagree but it’s early.
Ive heard Coley feels he’s the best QB he’s worked out at UGA. If he isn’t here, it won’t be because he wasn’t prioritized.
Oh I know but he is all dawg right now
the difference is SEPARATION in class. Eason/Fromm-1yr. Fromm/Fields-1yr. Just one year separation in class is a transfer portal waiting to happen.
Fields/Stroud would be TWO YEARS difference. Moreover, a great chance Fields could turn pro after his junior year - so at Ohio State, Stroud could potentially be "the man" by Sophmore season - I believe that is the requirement for most stud QBs - they understand they aren't ready usually by Freshman season but want to be "the man" by Year 2.
The great thing is we didn't leave him out in the cold during a Dawg night in the ghosts of Richtmas past, so I feel way better about Stockton right now than I ever did about trevor lawrence
For what it’s worth, Ohio State does already have the commitment of the #5 QB in 2021, same HS as Swift
I Really Want the Beck & Williams & Stockton !!!!
Ohio St also has a QB commit, 4* commit from AZ. Same pitch as us ATM. Come in and compete against a QB in the same class.
I know I'm a little off topic with this, but for current QB topic here, when will the Mathis's future be forecasted?
Is Zachary Evans still planning an official visit to UGA? @JeffSentell @SoFL_Dawg
He was supposed to but who knows now. I’m hoping it’s a December OV.
You like a December OV over a TAMU game OV?
Dec visit would be right before early signing day. That recruiting weekend usually has most of the commits in town and the prospects we are very hot and heavy for in town as well.
